Unhappy Blew part of my Grocery Budget for Feb. ALREADY!

I went to the produce market and I just couldn't resist. I had such a CRAVING for fresh fruit!

It must be the rain and short days or.......

But I bought all kinds of special fruit that I haven't had in ages.....

Two pineapples, a giant canteloupe, a huge amount of red grapes, kiwis, pears and the usual grapefruits, apples and bananas. It felt soooooo gooooddddd..........(I was even eyeingthe raspberries but I managed to resist those).

I went home and Boy did the children notice (which shows how long its been). They said "PINEAPPLES! You bought pineapples!" They were thrilled. We cut one open and ate it immediately! OH IT WAS SO GOOD!

I also bought a gallon size of fresh pressed organic apple cider ....I love the stuff and it has been so long!

So it was our mini tropical escape.......not much but heh it was nice all the same.

    Hope I don't regret it.......

Good for you Holly. You need those sorts of things. Maybe there's a health reason that you had such a strong craving. It's good to 'see' you. I haven't seen many posts from you lately.

    Oh hh DON'T WORRY!

consider it a REALLY cheap trip to Hawaii.

    I would.

I remember when I went back to nursing, and got some money from the first cheque I got to help pay for the retread program (a govt subsidy), and spent it on fruit and veggies, all kinds. I bought dd clothes that didn't come from the second hand store. Pretty ones, new from Sears, not on sale even. Ds got some stuff too.

I remember that "spree" as if it was yesterday.

I thoroughly enjoyed it. And though I had to budget hard before and after, it was money well spent.

It was fruit, it wasn't robbing the bank.

And sometimes these little bursts give us the whatever it is, to keep going, plugging away at the budget.

    HUGS hh and ALOHA!!!!

As far as extremely foolish spending goes I think fruit is probably the bottom of the list! You made my mouth water just describing it all As long as none of it sits around and goes bad you shouldn't feel bad at all, IMO.

Oh Holly, that sounds so good! Just enjoy it! Like Margery said, consider it as a cheap exotic vacation! There is nothing like yummy fresh fruit in the middle of January!

Think about it this way...your body (and your kids bodies) will thank you for it. Fruits is full of vitamins!

    ENJOY every bites of it!

Oh karen, most of it is already gone nothing is EVER wasted here!!

And Valerie I am still here I've just been busier than busy......I can't believe Jan. is already gone! Feb. is going to be pretty busy too........

You know I am very busy with extracuricular activities.....well on top of that Ds had a science world exhibition on robots to assist with. Eldest Dd was/is training her horse and working through her chief scout requirements and 8 yr. old Dd is polishing her festival pieces on the violin and had extra fiddling concerts to go to because of Robbie Barnes night.....this is ontop of our already busy schedule.....phew.
Feb. isn't much better.......there is the music festival (which I already mentioned) a cub first aid camp ( I am the leader), a winter scout camp for my two oldest in the SNOW ( I am worring already), a valentine luncheon fundraiser ( I have to help make 8 giant lasagnas) for the youth habitat for humanity project........and a ton of other stuff!

March looks better........I think I will sleep.

I also have been limiting my computor time to save costs.....

I have carefully budgeted the student loans... to pay the bills......but by my calculations we will run short (even if I don't over spend like today ugh!) by mid April. So I am applying for more burseries. Also Gardening will start up again soon.....so I hope that will tide us over till Dh graduates and gets a JOB!!!!!!!
