There's No Such Thing as an Ugly Mug!
There's No Such Thing as an Ugly Mug!
Old coffee mugs are very useful, and not just as pen
holders! It seems everyone's in a rush today to spend
money on the newest kitchen gizmo, but here's one
ready and willing to be used. The coffee mug is the
perfect size for heating small servings of frozen
vegetables, without using bigger containers. The
ceramic mugs heat from the sides and cook better and
faster than other containers. After dinner, use the
mug to have a scoop or two of ice cream. Better than
carrying around a bowl and it's got an insulated
handle. Fewer spills with the mug too. Try it. You
won't go back to bowls.

Sunshine, I use mugs all the time for serving soup or microwaving when I don't want to use a large container. Mine aren't completely ugly, and they do come in handy for other jobs besides having a hot drink.

I use my massive "coffee house" style mugs for cereal and soup and stuff, but I like that I only have 4. I don't really drink coffee, so that's enough for me!

Mugs are great for scrambling eggs or pre-mixing small amounts of liquid ingredients in a recipe. I also use them to melt butter--no burnt fingers since I've got the insulated handle to grab.
Come to think of it, our mugs are used more for cooking pursuits than drinking pursuits!

HEY DON'T THROW AWAY THOSE OLD MUGS. YOU CAN MAKE BEAUTIFUL LAMPS OUT OF THEM. JUST TAKE A MUG AND A SAUCER WITH SOME OF THE SAME COLORS IN IT, GLUE IN ONE OF THE ELECTRIC CANDLE LAMPS THAT YOU CAN BUY FOR A LITTLE OVER A DOLLAR, PUT SOME FIBER FILL STUFFING IN THE MUG AND DECORATE WITH MATCHING COLOR OF TULLE. BUY A MATCHING LAMPSHADE OR MAKE ONE OF YOUR OWN, DECORATE WITH RIBBON, HANKERCHIEFS, BUTTONS, WHATEVER. I MADE ALL MY SISTERS ONE FOR CHRISTMAS. GOT THE MUGS AND SAUCERS AT THE HOSPICE STORE FOR .25CENTS AND SOME WERE FREE. WILL POST A PICTURE AS SOON AS ANGIE{VOODIDIT} SHOWS ME HOW.
I BUY MY LAMPSHADES AT AC MOORE OR WHEREVER I CAN FIND THEM

We only have 2 mugs. All the rest I donated to goodwill. We don't drink coffee and I didn't have room to store them in my cupboards.
I never thought of using them as bowls. Thanks Denise.
