My first thrift shop visit
I hadn't done any thrift shopping before today. I wasn't even sure where they were. But after reading the success everyone on here has with them I decided to try it out.
I ended up with 7 shirts for SS for only $15. (It was 1/2 price day) And they were polos. And I'm pretty sure some have never been worn.
I just had to convince DH that I wasn't buying thrift shirts for SS out of some kind of sense of him being a second class citizen. Truth be told I would have bought DS some stuff...they just didn't have his size.

That's great! I have to admit that in my area at least the thrift store pickings are pretty slim.

WTG on those deals. We shop for most of our clothes at thrift stores. You just can't beat them.

Oh I went through that with Dh many years ago. The thing that turned him around was paying $2.00 for a pair of work jeans instead of new store price of $15.00. He never complained after that, lol.I just had to convince DH that I wasn't buying thrift shirts for SS out of some kind of sense of him being a second class citizen.
You got some great deals. Congrats!

I love thrift store shopping. It is hit or miss, though. You almost need to check about once a week. Sometimes you find nothing, other times you hit the jackpot. We are going on Sunday. DH needs dress shirts for work. Last time we went, we found him several pair of khaki pants for work, but no shirts. I am hoping for shirts this time. Keeping my fingers crossed.
I also love to buy books at the thrift store. The clothes at Goodwill are a little high (unless they are having a sale), but the books are 39¢ for softcovers, and 99¢ for hardcovers. I have found some great deals on books there. Sometimes I even find textbooks for our homeschool. New textbooks can be VERY expensive.

Great deals! I've never had much luck in my area with thrift stores, but I also have only been a couple of times. Maybe I just need to try a little harder.
Good job though!!

Great deals! Watch out though, thrift store shopping is addicting!!
My sister is coming to visit me for a week this month; she's never been this far east, but the only thing she wants us to do is go to all the thrift stores around here!

OMgoodness I am a thrift store addict!!! We have several here in Louisville and I have been to most of them several times. I rarely buy things new. I also love consignment shops.
For some reason not only the price drives me. All the things you buy has a history; a story behind them. I know, I'm weird lol

I love thrift stores too! Someone else has done all the hemming.
I updated my wardrobe at the Salvation Army Thrift Store for $35cdn. That's 5 pairs of pants, 2 tops, 3 sweaters and 1 jacket. Also picked up a shirt for dh, and a pair of dress shoes. That was last fall.
I picked up cheap secondhand silverplate for dd#1's wedding there too. Most of the pieces were $1-2cdn!
I've also been checking it out for old wool skirts and coats for rug hooking. Beats paying $34/m for brand new wool!
