Kim I couldn't answer this because the kids aren't that age any longer. However they've had a savings account now for almost 4 years.

Dd earns money by helping me at the post office and ds earns money by watching Michael every now and then. They give 10% for tithes and then put whatever amount they want into savings.

Not only does she, but just over 50% of her allowance is earmarked for savings. She willingly adds her birthday and Christmas money to savings as well. Since July, she's saved $100.

SS has had some form or another for a while now. And honestly, I'm starting DS's this year.

Too funny! I was just coming here to post that we opened savings account for 3 of our 5 kids today.

My 9 yo son has had a savings account for a couple or years now. He has a few hundred dollars in there. He's the saving-est kid I've ever met and it' so cool! He's set such a good example that the other kids started saving their money and we opened their accounts today.

My kids school teamed up with a bank, and every Wed. they can deposit money into their accounts... None of them have much, but it is a start, and it was free... The only sticking point is that the parents names are no where on the account.. The kids are the only ones in charge of it.. I can't go in a withdraw, which is fine by me.. I can however go in and deposit when I want.
