EF Goal One: Exceeded!
Wanted to share that my emergency fund topped $5000 this month, which was my first re-building goal. My savings were depleted due to medical bills and not being able to work in the aftermath of a major surgery last year, so rebuilding the EF is very important to us.
DH keeps a EF as well, and we were dipping into his before it was over. He is rebuilding his as well.
Next stop: $10,000!

Thanks everyone. I appreciate the encouragement.
It's bittersweet in a way. I found out last week I must have another surgery. This will be six surgeries in as many years.
I'm 40, and at the risk of sounding like an old geezer, it is true that money is pretty worthless without health. (Of course, in the US money improves access to healthcare, so it works both ways.)
Financially, we will fare better this time. Last September I finally accepted that my health is probably never going to be "normal" again. Getting on husband's policy would cost $400/month.
No way we could afford that.
So I made a tough choice. I dissolved my consulting business and went to work for a major corporation. Not much difference salary wise--in fact I could make more raw income on my own. However, the major corp offers excellent benefits including short-term disability that will pay 100% of my salary after this surgery.
I enjoyed my little company and the freedoms it offered, and sometimes I'm still sad that I had to move on, but with another surgery on the horizon, I know I made the right choice.
