Default Back on track~ is a must!!!

A while back Dh and I paid off the cc's and his car leaving my car and a mortgage. Now fesibly most of those payments should go towards my car (at least 400). We did start a few new sinking funds but that 400 should go extra on the car regardless. Oh have we been free spending!

On one hand it was wonderful to actually have the $ to splurge but on the other UGh!!!!!!! We should have paid more on the car in jan feb.

So we talked about it and agreed to get strict again and get that car paid off!!!!

I need to start keeping a daily acounting of my habits and savings. Visiting here regularly is a great start!

I'm in a similar boat -- when I bought my car, I didn't really worry about having to pay the insurance on it til September, when the insurance date was only eight months away and I hadn't squirreled away money at all for it.

So I went to my bank and set up a GIC account -- every payday, $117 goes into it (twice a month, so $234 a month). I don't even miss the money. The details on it are below, in my signature.

You'll get back on track, and with getting all the other stuff paid off you deserved a bit of a splurge, you earned it

Thanks Farm Wife! It took years so it seems we are rich now (which we aren't of course).

I did the budget for march and am committing 400 extra to the car at least. 1/2 my pay goes to car and 1/2 vacation.
We promised my DB we would come for the soon to be born babies next Christmas which means flying 4 to FL. So I need to get cracking on that!!!
March also has Dh bday so theres extra a budgeted for also. April has 3 birthdays and parties in our house so I'm taking 150 from march budget also since there is an extra pay check that month.

I'm feeling better about this already now that we agreed to crack down! You know we are better off now debt wise than most of our friends but that is no excuse to go crazy! It does no good what so ever to compare like that.
We need to get that car paid and, get the roof redone, carpet done (falling apart big big time!), get living room furniture that doesn't put you in pain after an hour and needs blankets to cover the holes and have a minimum of a 3 month EF since DH is the main earner( I earn less than 1/4 what he does working pt).
Our current EF doesn't look so great after seeing all that!! Plus after the car and ef are fully funded we need to start contributing more to retirement and start college funding.

I been thinking again maybe I needed a ft job (though it would never work with dh's rotating changing daily hours at work). Logically no way! I just need to keep control of the cash and do my best to be frugal.
I stopped over a year ago making my monday trek 30 miles 1 way to hit the .99 clothing tagsales and aldis. I instead started shopping fri quickly close to work after work because of the higher gas prices. I think it is worth the gas to make that monday trek to aldis and the thrift tore from now on again.

I think you'll be fine, you know what you have to do and it seems like you've set your plan in action.

Thanks all! I'm going to just continue updating little and big steps in this thread if no one minds.

Yesterday I recieved a dividend check for 27.00 that will go extra on the car.

I ran out of milk and instead of running into town I mixed up a gallong of powdered choc. milk. It all helps!

Thanks Lisa! I am just sodarn happy to be down to a mortgage and 1 car loan instead of the two car loans and cc's. I seriously think one of my happiest days was the day we paid the final cc payments after being in BONDAGE for years!!!!

What a great idea. This is what dh and I have agreed to do, but in our case, we are paying off our credit cards, our cars are already paid for.
