Talking Ways to save money on groceries

    http://moneycentral.msn.com/content/...ey/P134912.asp

This is one area that can really make your budget sink or swim. I like the suggestion about not just looking in the isles that are between our shoulders and knees.

I was wondering, who out there keeps a price book?

Yes, grocery shopping really can be done so many different ways. This area can really make or break your budget. Is there anyone out there who cooks everything from scratch? That must be a much more healthful diet I would think.

I cook most of our meals from scratch.
I just started our price book. I can remember which stores have the best sales on practically everything(I have a really good memory for numbers). I'm having problems with stocking up enough to ake it to the next great sale, so I figured a price book might help me out then I should only have to buy stuff when there is a great sale.

I've never heard of a price book. do you write down prices as you go? or do you use your receipt when you get home?

I have a price book. I write down prices from receipts when we go shopping. I also check online prices too - especially for produce so it's easier to work out the price per kg.

It's been really useful for us, especially as now DH often buys stuff on his way home from work to save making a special trip. He knows the prices of some things better then I do from all the shops in the area!LOL

Great article.. I have tried to keep a price book, but I have not been too successful at it... For the most part I can remember the majority of the everyday items I buy.. When I go to Costco with my SIL she is always asking if the things there are a good buy, and usually they are not, or they are the same price, and who really needs that many ___, so more so than not she waits to buy only the amount she would actually use... LOL... I too can retain the prices of most things, and I like that.... The book thing would confuse me I think..
