A successful trip to the thrift store!
I went to the DAV store today. I do this about once a month. I spent $11.51 (including tax), and got nineteen items. Here is the list:
six leather belts @ 45ΒΆ each - one for DH Dockers brand, two for dd Levi's brand, three for me, one of those was a Guess Jeans brand (like new) and two other braided leather ones.
two neckties for DH @ 45ΒΆ each, very nice ones, from "Structure" men's store.
one pair of Calvin Klein black jeans for dd, like new, for 95ΒΆ
Arizona stretch rib striped turtleneck shirt for dd 75ΒΆ
two long sleeved henley shirts for DH - one was 95ΒΆ, one was 75ΒΆ
one pair of Levi's Docker's pants for DH to wear to work - 95ΒΆ
one t-shirt for me 37ΒΆ
five other shirts for me, priced from 37ΒΆ-75ΒΆ each
Everything I purchased was in excellent condition, and yellow tagged items were 50% off today. I had a great time.

Now THATS a successful day of shopping! Can you imagine how much that would have been retail?

I told DH the four name brand belts alone would have been about $100 retail. Two of the shirts I got for myself were Liz Claiborne, so those would have carried a hefty retail price tag, too.

Wow, that's awesome. I just found out about a thrift store here that is supposedly the "hippest" store and they have half price Mondays. It's a drive, but I think I may check it out

I love the DAV! They do mark downs every week, so when something comes in, it may be marked $2.98, the next week, it is $1.49, then the following week it is 75ΒΆ. They have a different color tag each week that is 50% off. If I find something I like, and it is $2.98 or $3.98, I just wait. If it is still there when the price drops to about $1, great! If not, no big deal. The accessories are always a good deal. I get all of DH's ties from the DAV (49ΒΆ everyday) or the Goodwill (79ΒΆ everyday).
I find myself needing to buy clothes more frequently, since I am losing weight, and I don't want to spend a fortune when I don't plan on staying that size for long. I like to look for designer labels, because they seem to be well made, and I can resell them at a consignment shop, ebay, or even a garage sale for as much or more than I paid for them.

Today for work, DH wore his "new" Docker's, a white Land's End oxford shirt I also paid 95ΒΆ for about a month ago, the Docker's leather belt 45ΒΆ, and one of his 45ΒΆ ties. He looked very nice! He looks good for work every day. His work clothes would cost us alot of money if I paid retail for every thing. Just what he wore today, would have been about $120 retail, (Dockers $40, shirt $28, belt $30, and tie $20-25) I paid $2.80!

Congratulations!!
Your great experience reminds me of when my daughter was younger. She has always loved books. We used to save all our aluminum cans. When we had about 3 or 4 bags full, I would sell them at a recycling center that bought them by the pound and give her the money. Then I would take her to the Habitat store and she would always leave there with her arms full of books. They cost $.25 for paperbacks and $.50-1.00 for hardbacks. She has hundreds of dollars worth of books that were bought with trash money. I LOVE a bargain. Makes you feel good doesn't it?
