Now that is a GREAT article! If more people would think that way there would be so much less debt !

Good tips, but I'd never carry that much cash ($300) on me.

I liked the book he recommended. It's actually quite old ... written around 1900, I think.

I agree with what the article said, well, I wouldn't carry the money around with me (I'd rather have it earning interest).

The things is though, now we have money in savings we can walk into a shop and we have the money to buy pretty much what we want. Knowing this has given me (I don't think it bothers DH) confidence, mainly the confidence to say "no".

If we were (window) shopping before I wouldn't have had the confidence to deal with the salespeople, especially is they were trying to get me to look at more expensive items.

Now I can look at things and say "no" but I'm saying it through choice and not through necessity.

Great article. I've read 'The Richest man in Babylon' and agree with the idea of 'rich' being how you think. I've noticed dh has what I call a poverty complex. It's a feast or famine approach to spending money.

I wouldn't carry cash with me though. I'd spend it if I had it. I don't have that much control. Too spontaneous by half!

    Cool article.

    This part:
The poorest people are the people who spend the greatest amount of money on trash.

Thinking of alcohol, cigarettes and lottery tickets, gambling places.
