Anyone See 60 Minutes Last Night?
Last night on 60 Minutes, they did this whole expose on the health care system. Did you know that most hospitals charge patients without insurance sometimes double or triple what they charge their patients with insurance? It was fascinating, and so sad.

Yeah I saw...but I understood it differently. I understood it that they charge everyone the same they have just contracted to take less from the insurance companies.

I saw it, it made me sick. Good thing I have insurance or I could be in big trouble.

We don't have maternity insurance. When Kennedy was born, they submitted it to our insurance company and of course it was denied. BUT the ins co listed the PPO "agreed" price and it was $3k cheaper than what the bill was. I went 'round & 'round with the hospital about it. I felt that since I belong to that PPO plan, i should rceive the discount ......wo cares if *I* was paying or the ins co. The hospital didn't see it that way. I payed the bill because we needed to get it payed before the end of the year for taxes. Then I "sicked" my insurance guy on 'em. He couldn't get anywhere, either.
Anyway, another baby on the way & I'll get to get irritated all over again.
BTW, We don't carry maternity ins because it's about $500 a month in addition to what we already pay & if you do the math....it's not such good investment.
It's only about 10K to have a baby with all the fixins'. We dropped it when we were infertile for a long time & were just thowing money out the window.
