http://thegoodearth.blogspot.com/200...p-wear-it.html
Have you ever cleaned out a cupboard and thought, "OMG, I should have been using up all this stuff and not buying NEW stuff!"

Thanks for the site Shell! As for your question, yes I have done just that 2 weeks age.
Had a disaster in my food pantry, cat got in and turned over a box of cearl. What a mess! Well we decided to take every thing out and give the shevles a new coat of paint, weed, and clean sweep for and aft. As I pulled out items from dark and unseen corners I came across many items that I had forgotten about. This also lead to a new brighter light fixture!
As I put things away a day later I made 2 piles one of non-food items I haven't used in years and one of food items to be used up in the new few weeks of cooking and baking. The non-food items I called a few new brides and asked if they could use them. Away went an 3rd blender, a 2nd waffle iron, 4th and 5th tupperwares that just aren't pratical for our lifestyle. The remainder got boxed up and sent to a friend helping Kriania victums resettle in a northern area of my state.
WOW! Look at all this new space! Lead me to remove some clutter from my counter tops. Standing mix master has a new home! Counter looks so much better. One thing leads to another.
Food items have lead to some intresting new cold salads and desserts! Does good to give things a toss over once in awhile. It had been 11 years since DH built that cabinet it needed to see the light of day again.
By the way both my mom and grandma use the "Use it Up " saying so I've heard it often. Now my kids hear it.

My great grannie's saying was always "use it up, wear it out, make it do or go without". I've tried to live by that motto for years. I still haven't gotten it all down pat, however each day work at it.
Thanks Shell for the link.
