Have you ever kept a journal of your spending? I think you would be surprised at how you piddle away your money. Remember: small leaks sink big ships.

I never could remember tp write everything down so I taped a large envelope to the inside of my cupboard and I put all my reciepts in there. I go through it at the end of the month. It's amazing how those little things add up.

I like your envelope idea Danni... I try to keep track of everything I spend, and it's true, it really does help with keeping control of your money.

Great article! I put money into my ROTH IRA and 401 monthly. It's automatic and I really don't miss it. Yes, I could use the money, but I look at the retirement savings as another bill. It's amazing how a little bit can add up over time.

I use one credit card that earns airline miles for just about everything. Now that credit cards are accepted just about everywhere, I try to use it as much as possible. This is how I track my spending. I also pay off the entire card monthly.
