Holy cow, I would've noticed that.
Now, small amounts- they may pass me buy without noticing. I will admit I do not go over the receipt - I generally know how much the amount should be. I am sure there have been some mistakes.

I once was in line and the store was very busy. When I checked out the total was way over what I thought it should be..but then I did buy some meat? Maybe I added wrong....???

Upon further examination, before leaving the store...my receipt showed they had charged me for 12 Watermelons, rather than 12 ears of corn! I think I was overcharged by about $70.00!

Got my cash back right away!

i watch the register as they ring in the items...my mom taught me that..there is a law in canada...about if they overcharge you they must give you the item free ....but not if you catch it at the counter...so even if i could end up with some free items..i think the hassle would be greater

Holy smokes!!! Great balls of fire!!!

In my revived frugal state- I never leave the store until I review the slip. I'm now known to sit at the handicap bench in the front and go through the receipt.

The reason is.... I feel funny to leave the store and come back in... I feel like they wouldn't believe me or something.

A couple of weeks ago, while purchasing some loss leaders and sale items... The cashier moved so fast on my coupons which got me confused a bit- I didn't notice her put one of the $1 coupons in- so I asked her and she got all pissy at me. As if I am questioning her integrity.

She whipped around... printed out a reciept and pointed. 'right there' and NOT very nicely either. I just replied.. "thank you, I didn't see that' and went to go sit at that bench.

I can't imagine leaving the store with a en error on a grocery receipt or any receipt for that matter over a few dollars. Maybe I'm naive but really who wouldn't sit down and check their receipt if the bill seemed really high?

But then I learned from my Mom, to keep a tight eye on the register. She took me grocery shopping with her all the time when I was growing up and every time she watched the scanner and had the sale bills with her when we checked out. I'm still amazed that stores get away with over charging like that.

I used to have to get Diet Sprite 12 pack for SO's Granddad, and I went to Krogers who had them 4 for 10 dollars...No Limits were posted. So I got 12 pcks of drinks. I knew something ws wrong when I paid but tons of people were behind me, so I walked out while reading my receipt...and pulled my buggy right back in and told them I wanted my money back...they charged me full price for 8 of them. They tried to say there were limits, but I went to the display and showed the woman..they had to refund my money. It really pays to pay attention.

I have had them enter the wrong "code" for my produce before. I usually keep a very close eye on the scanner. I like using the "U-scan" lanes myself, if I have 20 items or fewer. That way I can easily see the price of each item as I scan it.

I would definitely notice an error that big! Wow.

Sometimes it's hard to watch the scanner. If I have a lot in my cart, often they start scanning before I'm done unloading. And the monitor is usually set so that you can't see it unless you are standing at the little pay counter. I find that frustrating. I always check the receipt afterwards if something seems too high. Or sometimes I'll just stop the whole transaction process to ask about something. I don't care if people get annoyed by that. I hate overpaying.

I usually know what my bill will be as I add it as I'm going along.
If its alot higher than that we go through it right there. i don't care how many are behind me.
If I have alot my Fiancee unloads and I watch the scanner.
I also check when I get my check cashed at the window to make sure there is what is suspose to be there is.

Gee, we ordered a doorknob/lock once and the company caught their mistake. They figured out that a single family home would not have ordered 3000 of them We saw the 2999 of them voided out.

I was charged for 3 bags of sugar once, caught it before I left the store, and several years ago charged for 7 bulk bottles of laundry detergent (only had 1).... only a few weeks back I was overcharged for a piece of pumpkin, I check the dockets before I leave the store, so I was able to simply go across to the service desk and I received a full refund and the pumpkin for free.

I always check my receipts, been too many mistakes in the past for me to trust scanners.
