Default My Double Dollar coupon adventure

I was just ready to head out the door to drive to Leeker's in Park City (about a 20 minute drive) for their double dollar coupons when the mailman came, bringing my grocery ads for Homeland and Dillon's. I decided to take a quick glance at the Homeland ad, and what did I see? This week only, they are doubling coupons up to and including $1.00!!!!! The Homeland store is just up the street, about a mile away. The only drawback is they do limit you to one "like" coupon. Leeker's will double up to three of the same coupon. But with Homeland so close, and the Double Dollars going until next Tuesday, I can make multiple trips, in order to stock up on the things I have more than one coupon for.

This deal got even better when I realized I had a $5.00 off a $25.00 purchase coupon that I had received in the mail two weeks ago from Homeland. They had sent a survey, in an envelope with two of these coupons. I had no intention of spending $25. Well, not after coupons, anyway. LOL. Then I realized that I only had to spend $25 BEFORE my coupons were deducted. NO PROBLEM. My total before coupons was $38 and change. I handed the cashier my $5.00 off $25 coupon FIRST. Then I handed her my other coupons after she had scanned the $5 coupon. She proceeded to take off all of my coupons. Then I got my total... It was $3.98!!!!!!! I was doing the 'happy coupon dance" all the way out to my car. Want to know what I got? Here is what $3.98 will buy (with coupons):

one 56 oz. carton of Breyer's Ice Cream
one box of New York Brand Garlic Bread Sticks
one package of 16 Pledge Grab-it dust cloths (reg. $3.99)
    one Old Spice stick deodorant
one bottle of Bic Witeout correction fluid
two 12 oz. bottles of V-8 juice
one box of 50 Sheer Nexcare bandaids
three pouches of Betty Crocker Corn Muffin Mix
one pouch of Hungry Jack Easy Mashed Potatoes
one pouch of Star Kist Tuna Fillets
    one GUM Micro-tip toothbrush
one box of Hot Pockets Strawberry/Cream Cheese pastries
two boxes of Rice-a-Roni Whole Grain Spanish Rice (Yum!)
two cans of Hormel Chili with beans
one bottle of KC Masterpiece BBQ sauce
one bottle House of Tsang Ginger Soy Sauce
one Chef Boyardee "Big Bowl" mini ravioli
one small can of Valley Fresh chunk white chicken

Not too bad. The guy in line behind me sure seemed impressed. I will be going back for more Rice-a-Roni, Tuna Fillets, Hormel Chili, Breyer's ice cream, and V-8.

    Excellent!!! That is great!

We always have doubles, have triples twice a year, but they NEVER double $1.00 coupons around here. It's always up to $0.75 coupons that are doubled.

What a score! Congrats! I'd be living at the store for the rest of the week, stocking up! (as I'm sure you will be)

I LOVE IT! That would make my month!

Sadly around here the most they'll ever double is a .50 cent coupon and they don't ever have triple days, so I usually just go to Aldis.

Don't ya love it when a plan comes together? Our Meijer store has what's called "super" double coupons where they double the regular usual coupons and also $1 coupons as well. Them and Kroger have regular double coupons all the time, but I have yet to see a TRIPLE coupon day...that would be sweet!

I went back last night, and without the $5.00 coupon, did not do quite as well, but still saved $28.08 (84%) and spent only $6.58. I am running out of storage space! We should be eating well off the stockpile for at least a month, needing to buy only meat, milk, bread, and produce.

Great job.. I will do the coupon dance with you.. I can never seem to get those kinds of deals.. Safeway and Albertsons will only double up to four and those are only doubled to maximum 50cents.. I guess that I could go to different stores and at different times... I usually try to gather the neighbors coupons from their circulars.
