    Me too!
    On the same note.
My daughter is doing a project in her religion class, she is a sophmore. Her project is making a budget for a family of four who
    live on mimimum wage.
    Find an apartment
    utilities
    Employment
    Payroll deductions
    Health Ins.
    Life. Ins.
    Car Payment
    Car Ins.
    gas

What a great learning experience for us both!

She is taking this very serious. I'm also enjoying watching her make very responsible finacial decisions for her family.
First decision, NO cable, they will use they library for videos.

I am proud Jumpstart is going on in my home state. Wish it had been around back in my school days.

I bought the book "Rich Dad, Poor Dad for Teens" has some good pointers for teens. I am going to pass it down to my son when I am done.

It would be nice if a money class were added to more curricula around the country. I was fortunate to have parents who taught from early on the lessons of budgeting and responsible credit card usage. I received a huge allowance, but it had all sorts of budgeting rules that went with it, such as 10% savings, 10% tithe, had to buy any birthday gifts for friends, clothes I didn't need, go to movies with friends, etc. I had to learn how to shop carefully, decide on what activities were most important to me, and make my money last. Most kids aren't taught those things, I've learned through the years.

My sister is an accountant, and a few years ago, she taught a Junior Achievement course at a local middle school on money. The kids learned about budgets, investments, etc. I thought that was a great program. Too bad more schools are offering that sort of thing.

I agree. If more teens were taught how to handle money responsibly they wouldn't have to spent their time trying to get out of debt as an adult!
