That idea absolutely works. Another way to lower the cable bill is to just go with basic. JUST BASIC!!! Impossible for many, but after about 5 years without the hundred or so channels, I find myself getting more done...hobbies, chores, reading, etc...than I ever would have been able to do with all those distracting channels. And really, is there all that much on that's worth the extra fifty dollars or so per month? Basic plus the one at a time membership to Net Flix is another way I've gone, but then I found I wasn't even watching those movies, so now I just pick up a book during "down time". (It's better not to have a lot of TV options if you've got kids anyway.)

Great idea..but that won't work for me...we only have 1 choice for cable and thats comcast.

Thank you for the link. I did that with our phone/internet. I called to cancel and they saved us over $60.00 a month by changing options.

We only have one option for digital, too. We are thinking of checking out satellite soon to see if it will be cheaper, because we just finished up 6 months with a promo price. We cant go with just basic- DH and I have too many shows we watch together & really enjoy & I dont want to take that away from us, so I just need to try & find a lower plan for the cable we want to keep.
