Do you own an extra freezer?
I have been considering buying a freezer. Currently, I only have the one on the fridge. I have a large side by side so I do have some room.
But, I have seen some good deals that I could stock up on that I just have had room. For example, last week I could have gotten Bryers Ice Cream for 75 cents a half-gallon. Where it is normally $5. I only bought two because I didn't have anymore room.
Can you give me the pros and cons of buying a freezer?

I also have a side by side fridge as well as a chest freezer in the basement. I love having it, it allows me to stock up when I find awesome deals. One day I was at the commisary and they had 4 pound hams on sale for $1.74 each. So, I bought a case and put them down in the freezer. Another time while there they had frozen pizzas for .10 so I bought 3 cases. It comes in handy, we have actually considered purchasing a larger freezer so I could stockpile even more.

I love, love love my extra freezer! When meats are on sale, I stock up and have a place to store them. The freezer is in the garage so in the summer, it's easier to put the frozen treats in there so that the kids can grab one from the garage instead of all coming in the house.

We have an xtra freezer (med. chest freezer in the basement) and an extra fridge. The house we bought came with a side by side plus we had the top/bottom fridge from when we sold our first house. We will be getting rid of the side by side this summer though. I can't stand it, plus I think it's a drain on our electric bill.
I will miss the water in the door though.
Pros of the freezer:
I have room to stock up when there are good sales
I have room to freeze the extras from my garden
Cons of the freezer:
extra electricity used

We also have an extra freezer. It was a gift from my fil who was a very frugal man. He wanted to help us have a place to stock up on those sales and loss leaders.
We love it.

I have an upright freezer. It's in the laundry room.
I love having it. Gabe is paid monthly, so I usually shop one big shopping trip each month and then smaller trips weekly. I could never shop for the month and stock up during sales with just my fridge freezer.

I'm really extreme in that we have 2 chest freezers, lol! I absolutely love it and we fill them up by fall and have all the meat/veggies I need until the garden is producing the next year.
We raise our own beef so put in a whole cow at a time, trade beef for chickens/pork, and as I said all the veggies. Toward early spring one is usually empty and cleaned up and shut off until it's needed again.
One thing, check local auctions around you, I purchased a great kenmore freezer at a neighbors auction for $30.00. Then another friend was getting rid of her chest freezer so I traded her a couple of round bales of hay for it.
They really don't pull that much electricity, before I had the furnace running I was running the whole house including both freezers for about $35 a month.

i have an upright freezer in my laundry room.....i love it. The only downside to it is that it is on the lower level and my kithcen is on the upper level and i hate running up and down trying to remember what i have in it
i suppose a list kept upstairs would help with that

Sadly, I don't. There's a good spot in the garage for a small chest freezer, but DH filled up the space with his workbench and billions of saws and tools and stuff. He says I can still put a freezer there if we get a shed for the backyard. He's been wanting a shed for a long time, even though I think it is unnecessary. Our backyard isn't big enough for one, and I think it would look tacky. But that's a whole other subject.
I really would love to have an extra freezer, though. For now, my side-by-side will have to do.

I have a side by side and the freezer is full. We also have a chest freezer on the back porch that's down to 3/4 full. It's great for sales on turkeys and other meats. We buy a whole beef once a year for hubbys aunt.
