My how we have gotten off track
Well, for the last month or so dh has been bringing in WAY more weekly than usual. We kinda just took the extra and ran with it. Yeah, we bought stuff for the house and yes some stuff we could of lived without, but man, I didn't even notice we were doing it. It just happened. Now I am regretting it so badly. I cringe when I think of all the money we could have put into savings. We have definitely got to get back on track and headed in the right direction...I'm so glad I am better and back at the village for support and encouragement!!

I have gotten off track too
. It is nice though that when we do get off track we have all of our friends here at frugal village
.
Pepper, from reading your posts, and I have gotten alot of great information from you , I am happy for you that you did get to pick up a few extras as you do such a wonderful job with being frugal etc. I mean really, when was the last time you were really able to "treat" yourself in this way?and the great thing is you didn't go into your monthly expenses to do it.....it was extra money and now when you get extra money you can put it in savings etc.
What are your plans now? What are your goals? I think that you have done Outstanding and I applaud you for all of your hard work

Pepper- you need to be able to enjoy life too. All work and not play... makes Pepper....well... bitter. and we don't want bitter Pepper, we want happy Pepper! So, feeling bad will have REALLY wasted that money. You've done very well thus far. Consider it a little vacation from frugality. We all deserve it now and then.
BTW I was wondering were you've been lately. You were missed.

I've been trying to stay on the right track, but this last weekend got me. I've instituted an envelope system for gas and groceries to try to stay away from using the debit card. It worked for the most part, but needs some tweaking. Anyway, it looks like this pay period will end better than any have in a while, so that's a good sign!
Sorry for hijacking this thread, but I've been gone a while too. Thanks for sharing Pepper. It's good to know I'm not alone in my weakness!!

I know how you feel! I have been pinching pennies now for 3 months, putting every single bit of extra money to that darn visa. Went to Lowes today and just wanted to go crazy! I ended up only purchasing a lilac bush, but did I need it? No. And even though it was only $14.99 I still feel soooo guilty! I of course can justify this purchase until the cows come home, but I know I should have put the money towards the visa!

Don't feel bad Pepper. We all enjoy some indulgence once in a while.
By the way, the same thing happened here. DH has been getting some really good checks lately and we seem to be slipping off the wagon here too. I am trying to jump back on myself. We can do it together.~*Michelle*~

I fell off too ....
Our visa bill came and although we pay it off every month, I was astounded at how big it was. Granted our airfare to visit the inlaws and a couple other big things were there and that added to the shock quotient, but it's all the piddly stuff that adds up. Did I really need to spend that much at that store??? Time to drag myself up off the ground and get back on that bandwagon.

I really fell off the wagon this weekend. My snowball system really worked good, and for the first time since LAST feb I found myself with some extra on a check. Well yes I ran out and bought some new clothes. I needed some jeans for work (my good work jeans got a rip in the knee, can't wear them to work anymore like that) and I picked up a few shirts. It was so nice to get soem new stuff and even nicer to know that I paid in cash!! But I need to jump back on that bandwagon since I feel myself hangin on my just my fingertips.

Don't feel bad, I have been clawing my way back on the frugal wagon. Dust yourself off, and jump back on.

Thanks everyone...I have big plans!! Well, we found out that at the beginning of this next year my dh is being transferred to Georgia and along with the transfer comes a promotion, so we are going to start a "moving savings" this payday!! The company would pay for the move if he excepted the supervisor position, which he didn't as he doesn't want to tackle that in a new plant with no familiarity of it at all and also, he would make more by the hour than he would salary, so all in all, it works for us. Lots of cuts coming our direction but I am excited about what the future holds for us!!! Also, we know we are going to be needing a new car, nothing is wrong with the one we have now, but it is old. We are also going to start a "car savings". We will still buy used, mainly because we think the price of a new car is ridiculous, but that of course is just our way of thinking!!
There is going to be one more splurge, well not really a splurge, but my b-day is this month and I told dh I would like to have a new treadmill, not cheap by any means but I so need to get more excersize and lose some weight. Well, now I am rambling...LOL!!
