Default Saved money today by going to my bank!

I went with DS#1 to open a checking account since he now has a job. I went to the bank were DH and I bank and they told me that since he is opening a checking account with them too, he will not have any monthly fees because we also bank there. They also informed me, while looking at my account, that I shouldn't be charged a monthly maintenance fee either. I have always payed $8 for as long as I can remember. She told me that since I do most of my banking online it was free! So I saved myself $8 a month by going to the bank. Had I known that, I would have went in sooner.
$8 a month x 12 months = $96 a year! $8 isn't much, but with gas on the rise, every little bit helps!

    Michelle,

That's awesome! We only get charged $2 a month for our check return fee, but I have been doing online payments/banking for the past couple months and dont even write checks, gonna call them on Monday to get that $2 savings! It isn't much for every little bit counts!

I specifically picked our bank because it has no monthly fees, no annual fee for a debit card (seems all the banks around here charge one or the other!), and no minimum balance with direct deposit. The trade off is since its a small bank they only have 4 branches and 4 ATMS. But its something I can live with.

    WTG Michelle!

I use a credit union so there is no fee for online, atm or maintenance. Love it

Thats great and you are right every bit helps. Our bank doesn't charge a fee if you have direct deposit, which we have.
