    Default No more shower gel....

My dh does love it but its sooo $$$! I bought some really nice soaps at clearance at TJ Maxx. Like $3 for a giant bar of pineapple something soap. You just use your shower puff (yes still that splurge) and it soaps up just as well. Just thought I'd share this small victory! Anyone else say no to shower gel???

If you keep an eye out for the big softsoap or olay coupons and then combine those with sales, sometimes you can get them free or close to free. Just a thought ... that's how I get mine (I loooove shower gel, and never let my dh use it because he uses too much, LOL!).

I use a puff with either Caress soap or a small dollup of gel and find that it makes it go much further. Gripey doesn't puff and only uses the Caress soap so it's not a problem. I do find that when the kids come home my shower gel disappears a lot faster though. I don't buy the expensive kind anyway just something like Sauve on sale with a coupon.

mE and my yougets use baby gerber shampoo/wash. Also for yoursself you could use baby shampoo(n.n. kind). I buy it in bulk at dollar store sometimes. Great for making bubbles outside with alittle glycerin in it.

I buy the Olay liquid stuff in bulk at BJ's. I've stopped buying any Bath & Body Works or the fancy guy's stuff because it's just too expensive and I feel like most of it dries out our skin anyway.

I always buy DH soap bars when I can get it free after rebate or with coupons. I buy body wash for everyone else the same way.

I agree that body wash is expensive. The only time I use it is if I have hives. Then Aveeno's oatmeal body wash is my good friend.

I've been using Yardley's lavender bar soap. I was buying it for only 99cents at Wal-mart, but I can't seem to find it anymore. I use Johnson's Bedtime Lotion (lavender scented) when I get out of the shower. That regimen seems to work quite well for me.

the reason why i have shower gel in my shower is because i got it free after i used my coupons. i personally could go without it. my dd who is 11 loves it. but i have about 4 more things of it left & i won't get it again, unless i have more coupons.

Bar soap melts too fast for me. It doesn't seem to be worth it. I also have to use Dove, so I buy it in liquid.

Dh really likes the suave honey and milk (which seems funny to me because that's not a manly scent) but I buy it anyway and we have our own separate soaps.

I bought him a big pack of Irish Spring Bar Soap a year ago and he hated it. Now I have a lot left. No point in spending the money if it doesn't get used.

Thank you for the hint Savin4Disney. I buy it when its on sale with a coupon. Sometimes Walmart or even oddlots will have it marked clearance or for a fraction of the cost. Bar soap makes my skin dry, but the shower stuff always leaves my skin smooth. But I won't pay full price for it, in fact I won't pay full price for anything.

An area-specific bargain alert for Thursday thru Saturday...

Long's Drugs (I know they are a chain in the West and in Hawaii, but not sure how "far" they extend into the other states) has a special sale starting on Thursday. Long's special sale pricess typically are only good on stock on hand. (They don't write rain checks for these sale prices. So try to get there early!) Suave shampoo will be priced at .77 per bottle, which is an excellent price, for high-cost California anyway! We use Suave shampoo for hand soap and shower gel and it actually seems to be less drying to skin than pump soap.

Hope this helps someone out there!

    Blessings,

    Michelle

Thanks Michelle, We use the Suave products and usually get them at a sale price when we can. .77 cents is a great deal! I'll make it out there this week!

I just like the lather, but a bar of good ol' Ivory does the same trick. Though I did splurge recently and bought a bottle of Dove body wash. It's nice, but it's not fantastic.
