I would have asked for my penny from that cashier & to heck with the people in line behind me. Money is money and those pennies add up to dollars.Would these penny haters like everyone they do business with to round up everything to the the next dollar? I don't, that's for sure.

I for one LOVE pennies, and use them to pay extra on the mortgage! A few of the guys that work with hubbie laugh at him and save their pennies for him. I can always tell when they've given them to him as he jingles coming through the door! They save them up then dump them on his desk and laugh.
I love it though, it paid over 20 dollars on bills alone last year, lol!

Well, obviously it takes a lot of pennies to make a dollar, but I still pick up every penny I see and we give all of our pennies to our dd for her bank. We cashed them in two years ago I think and there was almost fifty dollars in there. Certainly worth my time to bend over or to hold my hand out for my change.

I have "the Donald's" attitude: it's my money! I would have told the cashier she owed me and not felt ashamed at all.

Eye opening article. I save all my pennies and I always hold my hand out for the penny, letting them know I am not donating my money. I loved the story of the man who had pennies in 55 gallon drums. It reminded me of a guy I dated in high school his parents were really thrifty, they also saved pennies and had the drums in their basement all 5 of them. His mom is the one who turned me on to planting my own vegies and other frugal things, my parents taught me the other stuff.
