    Default Frugalities-Tuesday, April 25th, 2006

What did you do yesterday to make your money stretch further: These are the things I did:

Did my laundry in cold water.
    Hung it to dry.
Cooked dinner in the crockpot which is the second cheapest way to cook next to the microwave oven.
Bought a case of spaghetti sauce at .47¢ a can.
Bought 10 pounds of ground beef for $1.00 a pound.

Yesterday, to save money, I went to the community volleyball tournaments, (which are free) for entertainment. They were right next to where I work, so I didnt even have to drive there... I was already there! Plus, I got to cheer on all my buddies. (6 teams were playing, and I have friends on all 6 teams!)

I brought the kids to the park and brought our own snacks and drinks. Basically two free hours of wholesome family time!

Made hamburgers on the grill and washed comfortors and hung them out to dry. Had windows open, wow that was so nice. No heat and no air on.

This was NOT a frugal day for me. I had to have the studded tires on my car removed and replaced with all-season tires. So I had 4 new tires (fortuneatley, there was a deal on -- buy 1, get one half price), buy a road hazard warrantee on each of them, have the tires balanced, have the car inspected, have the oil changed, have my emergency brakes fixed and have my car aligned. Grand total -- $628.39. I hate that -- my father was a mechanic and I always wished he'd told me more about cars when I asked, because I always feel like I'm getting screwed over at the garages (whenever I asked Dad to teach me, he told me cars were not "girl things". )

Fortuneately, I did get some deals today:

~ apples were BOGO today, so I bought 4 3-lb. bags of fiji (fuji?) apples for $7.98.
~ Boneless skinless chicken breasts were BOGO too, so I bought two of those for , at $21.19 for 1.2 kg., and the other one (for free) was $21.17. He'll get plenty of chicken out of that.
~ There was also pasta on @ 3/$4, so I got six pkgs. for as well. I only eat whole wheat pasta. So they equaled $0.75 each.

So, I guess the majority of my deals were for but that's okay. As long as we're saving that's better than nothing!
