Neighbor moving
My neighbor is moving back to the US, so she just gave me an ENTIRE kitchen worth of food and staples. (Her move was unexpected, so she didnt get to use up all of her stuff)
While this is great for me.... I have NO WHERE to put all this stuff! O have rearranged my cabinets, and I still have half a kitchen worth of food to put away!
(Oh, the horror of my life today, right?)
On another note, I decided that I am going to be more proactive in recycling. I even got a garbage can with three holders, one for paper, one for plastic and cans, and one for rubbish. No sense in throwing everything out together when the recycling fee is paid for by the government!

Wow! Congrats on the food, and good for you for stepping up recycling. I've really gotten out of the habit, and it is important for all of us to do our part.

Lucky you! Congrats on the food!
As for the recycling, our county makes it easy. We have 3 big plastic cans on wheels. One for garbage, one for yard waste and one for recycling. You can throw everything that is recyclable into one bin, paper, plastic, cans, glass, etc. Makes it really easy.“When you get to the end of all the light you know
and it's time to step into the darkness of the unknown,
faith is knowing that one of two things will happen:
you will be given something solid to stand on,
or you will be taught how to fly.” - Edward Teller
“Our Earth is degenerate in these later days;
there are signs that the world is speedily
coming to an end;
bribery and corruption are common; children no
longer obey their parents;
every man wants to write a book and the
end of the world is evidently approaching.”
— From a translation of an inscription on
an Assyrian clay tablet, circa 2800 B.C.E.
God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change,
courage to change the things I can,
and the wisdom to know the difference.

Here, we have 4 different garbage bins for each apartment stairwell. One is for paper, one is for plastic and cans, one is for rubbish, and one is for stuff like banana peels. Of course, they dont give you trashcans inside the house to seperate, you have to buy those on your own. The one I got is small, so I can see that I am going to be taking out the trash 3 or 4 times a day, but hey, I have a 7 year old that is always asking to take out the trash, so why not?
Plus, it will teach her about recyling!

treeluva I just noticed your were stationed in Germany. Many many years ago about 20 my ex and I were stationed at Hahn AB, Germany. I think now the base is some type of airport. I really loved the area. When we were there everyone was so friendly.

Congrats on the food. Good luck on the recycling. Here the city gives us one plastic bin for free. You can fill it up and set anything out beside it for recycling. We have gotten down to 1/2 bag of trash.

Canned & bagged goods can go under beds and other furniture in boxes you can slide out. Enjoy the windfall.
