What's on Your Permanent List?
I was shopping today and was only getting the items that we need every week, because our pantry and fridge/freezer are pretty well stocked. It made be wonder if other people have their "permanent list" of groceries. Items that they need to buy no matter what, each week.
For us, the permanent list is:
2 gallons milk
2 loaves wheat bread
2 pounds baby carrots
1 bunch bananas
1 bunch grapes
10 apples

I just went today and got the basics.
Fruit for the week, something for dh (apples, oranges, pears - whatever is cheapest) and something for the kids (grapes, bananas, apples, whatever is the cheapest) - sometimes all of the above
Salad stuff - some sort of lettuce, whatever is cheapest, carrots, and maybe cucumbers or tomatoes
eggs
yogurt - I am always out of yogurt for either the kids or dh, or dd (she eats soy), so I am always buying some sort of yogurt
cheese - 3 of my kids love string cheese, so I am always buying this as well

“When you get to the end of all the light you know
and it's time to step into the darkness of the unknown,
faith is knowing that one of two things will happen:
you will be given something solid to stand on,
or you will be taught how to fly.” - Edward Teller
“Our Earth is degenerate in these later days;
there are signs that the world is speedily
coming to an end;
bribery and corruption are common; children no
longer obey their parents;
every man wants to write a book and the
end of the world is evidently approaching.”
— From a translation of an inscription on
an Assyrian clay tablet, circa 2800 B.C.E.
God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change,
courage to change the things I can,
and the wisdom to know the difference.

My kids go nuts with my basics. I have the same as you all do, but I can never think of anything new and exciting (but healthy and yummy) that they could have as snacks! I'm in a rut!

Fresh veggies, coffee creamer, I usually buy eggs in a 5 dozen carton and extra bread for the freezer (not weekly items). I like to look for a stockup item thats on sale and buy 3 or 4 for the pantry each week.

I don't have a permanent list- there is nothing that we go through and absolutely need every time we shop. The thing that is probably closest is bottled water and italian whole wheat bread.
