Default Why am I so weak!?

I'm as frugal as they come when it comes to utilities, food and clothing. I mean it...really truly frugal! I'll pinch that penny till it screams for mercy.
So WHY do I think nothing of spending tons on gardening needs?! I'm numb now that I've had time to finish the gardening I wanted done today and stopped to think about how much money I dropped on garden STUFF. Should I also add that I didn't save ahead of time for any of it, and should I also remind myself that I have a graduation and wedding coming up!?!?!

I think that's why we are frugal - so we can spend money on what's important to us - whether it be credit card debt, other bills or gardening stuff. In my case it's vacations and the shopping that goes along with them. I am like you, can make each penny do the work of a dime but when I am on vacation money is no object. Enjoy your garden and take time to smell the flowers.

I'm that way too. I'm frugal on some things, but will splurge on other things.

Dave'sGirl don't be so hard on yourself. We all have something we splurge on at times. But I think you could look at it this way. It was something you bought that is rewarding to you. When you need something relaxing you can look at your garden and smile.

Yup...add me to the list...My DH and I bought our kids a GoCart today..$1600.00...I feel it can be justified by saving for months in the same areas as you and the others has said...and seeing how happy my boys are makes me not feel so terrible about spending that kind of money. Now we won't buy anything that we don't need for several months. I also gave my brother and sister-inlaw $300.00 so they can start stocking up on food as they have hit some hard times the past couple of months.

Hmmmmmm I love my garden too..... and I would be mighty tempted to spend money if I went to a nursery so I avoid them like the plague!!!!

I have also applied all the frugal gardening techniques growing from seed and cuttings swapping with friends etc.... and maney gardeners are more than happy to share a piece of something you admire....so there are ways to stretch the gardening dollar.

But then if you can afford to buy and enjoy buying plants go ahead splurge especially on shrubs and trees.... it is hard to get those frugally!

Isn't funny how when you want to save money you can only think of how you would like to be spending it?

It's like dieting, you never want to eat so much food like when you're on a diet.

I know, I beat myself up too over my little weaknesses but, sometimes you have to look at the positive things you've done.
