How many miles do you have on your car?
A thread over at the DIS got me thinking about this. Right now the jeep(that needs repaired) is sixteen years old and has sixty thousand miles on it. The 300M is five years old and has a little over sixty thousand miles as well. I've been reading about people driving cars past the two hundred thousand mark and that amazes and excites me. Could we drive our car that far? It's not unreasonable to consider the purchase of a car with over a hundred thousand miles then is it? I mean something that has proven to go the extra mile. My grandfather sold a cavalier with 150K on it and it was still running strong.

I have a 98 Pontiac Grand Prix that has 166,000 miles and it still runs excellent. I sold a 92 Rodeo that had 167,000 and it was falling apart, barely running. I think it really depends on how well the car was maintained. I'm hoping to take my car well over 200,000 miles.

I have a 2000 Chevy Monte Carlo SS that has 103,000 miles on it and it's in perfect condition. Some cosmetic problems (a few scratches and paint chips on the hood) but it runs like a champ! It had 30,000 miles on it when I bought it in 2001, so I put most of them on there. I have regular oil changes and preventative maintenence done on it. I am hoping to put at least another 60,000 miles on it! Especially since it will be paid off in October!!!!

I have a 2001 Subaru Forester that has about 108k on it. I was talking to a car dealer who came into the hospital a few weeks ago and he said I still have tons of life left in. We just keep up with routine maintainence and haven't had any serious problems.
My brother had a Chevy Cavalier that he put over 200k on without batting an eye.

My dually is going on 12 years old but only has 54,900 on it, it was our "toy" for years but is now my main vehicle, I only drive it once a week though and only about 10-15 miles then, it's going to last me a lifetime. I've had to do some minor things over time, replace belts etc that were rotting with age. It also "ate" a small car a few years ago (hubby rear ended them) no damage to our truck (the TANK) but totalled out the car, lol.
Hubbies little ford ranger is coming up on 200,000 and is a 96, we've rebuilt the tranny, rebuilt the drive shaft (only he could snap a drive shaft, sigh) and it's still running pretty well, it better as we can't afford to replace it right now!

My 1990 Bonneville has 87,000 miles on it. My dad gave it to us 4 years ago and it only had about 50,000 miles. Had I not been hit by a semi it would look a little better, so far we have put about 400.00 a year in it repairing something but that's far better than paying 400.00 a month on a payment.

Our old Toyota Tercel had over 250,000 miles on it. We've been told our new-to-us Toyota Corolla should go over 300,000. Right now it's eight years old and just over 100,000.

Just traded in my Chevy Suburban "98 with 180,000 got a Toyato Four Runner 01' with 50,000 on it. Dh's Dodge Ram Pup has 182,000 and all run great. Dh keeps check on the trucks as we need them daily in our business and can't have one down. We often travel 100 miles one way for work so miles add up fast. Plus we like to travel and that addds up too.
