    Default got a great freebie!...m

I was with my SIL yesterday and she was throwing out 8 pairs of curtains - literally just putting them out for the binmen to pick up. I asked her if I could have them instead - they are only a year old and she is * fed up* with them already so was changing them.

They are all plain cream with embroidered motifs and will fit my windows perfectally!. My curtains are about 5 yo and shrink everytime i wash them so dont really look that good anymore.

So this morning I hung up 6 pairs and out of the other pairs I cut up and have made some cushion covers ( not the best sewing in the world but passable!) to replace my old worn ones.

My old curtains have gone to a friend who has just moved into a new house and had no extras for curtains - my old shrunk ones fit her new windows perfectally!

its true that what is one mans rubbish is another mans treasure!, I have told SIL to let me know if she is throwing anything else out!

That's great, you got new ones, your SIL will get new ones, and your friend got much needed curtains.

way to go, my friends house caught fire, and alot of things, went in the trash I went through alot of the stuff, took what i could wash and fix, and with a little elbow grease some washing and painting, i repared and now have a small pantry, a stool, some stuff animals baskets, old sheets, for covers for the couches, so that the dogs don't get hair and dirt on the couches, some
cooking dishes, jars, a clothes hamper, her insurance company told her to throw all this stuff, out once it was in the trash it was free game to anyone who wanted it, also some clothes for my boys, just used some ode-ban that i got at sam's and no smoke smell, and you can't even tell that they were in a fire or anything. it was great. plus it helped her she had to pay by the pound to have the dumpster dumped so everything i took saved her some money also so it was a win win situation, it never hurts to ask, or even dumpster dive..
