Yahoooo! The PERKS!
Alright, I got a job at Shopper's Drug Mart. It's a cashier job with the opportunity for advancement.
However, 8 litres of homogonized slipped by it's due date. As did 6 litres of soy milk.
I bundled it all up and took it home with permission.
14 LITRES OF MILK!!!!! They just chuck it away. I have all of it in the freezer as we speak.
Best Before doesn't mean Poison After. We have 6 people here and 3 of them are big milk drinkers.
I'm thrilled!

When I used to work at Caswell's ( mentioned in the TWG ) I had tons of these kinds of perks. Caswell's is a liquidation store for grocery items. The items were delivered to the store in banana boxes mostly. Then they were sorted, priced and washed. When the product was damaged to heavily it was placed into boxes. The employees could go through these boxes and put aside what they wanted. When we wanted to cash out our box, the manager would just give us a price for the whole box.
When I took the box home, I would count how many items I had and divide it out to find what price I had paid for each. Usually it was less than .20 per item.
Some of the items I bought were:
Hellman's mayo w/o a label
Tide liquid that had a tear at the top of the bottle
dented cans that were still perfectly fine
cereal because the box was torn, but the bag was unharmed
This is just a small example of what I could get for pennies. We also had the same deal with freezer items.

That is a great perk! All I could bring home with me (past expiration date) are the tubes your blood is taken in, and for some reason, that just doesn't appeal to me, LOL.

That's really cool. I know I bought a bunch of discounted milk a while ago because it was past the date, but it was quickly consumed and didn't taste any worse for being cheaper, lol.
