I made the lady at the bank giggle!!!!
Our credit union is having a big loan sale. They have too tell you everytime you call, drive up or walk in. I just smile and say no thank you. We paid off all but the mortgage and we are really happy with out the loans. I usually get a polite smile or an odd look. Today the lady said" well how about a low rate credit card instead ? "I said " nope Ma'am! We learned no to play with sharks!" She started giggling something fierce. Then said "well really that is smart" very quietly. I told her I'm a big DaveRamsey fan and to check him out cuz it really works!

Awww, you made her day, lol! Isn't it fun to make them smile? And honestly I feel so sorry for the tellers the way they make them push loans and CC's, they're tellers not sales people.

Your right they really push it. One of my clients is a head person at the bank. She knows we quit debting years ago to go in pay off mode. She asks me if they tell me about debt once in a while at the bank and the answer is always yes.
I'm glad I made her giggle!~July 19 saving goal for event $104/$1000

My neice is a manager at JCPenney's. They are supposed to push those credit cards. One of the salespeople - an older woman - gave my neice the riot act saying that she will not be responsible for helping people get in over their heads and gave my neice a lecture on how this debt is really financed by poor people in China - they save their money, their banks buy US bonds which cover our borrowing.

I am glad you were able to make her smile and lead her own to Dave Ramsey. She may thank you one day.

My mother works at Banana Republic, and she is always getting talked to about not getting enough people to open up a credit card. She then of course, vents to me, and says there is no way she is going to push a CHILD, (anyone under 30) to get a credit card from that store with its 21 percent interest rate to buy over priced clothes.
(My mother is a designer for Freeman Decorating, based in New Orleans. Of course, after Katrina, there arent any conventions going on, so her job was kind of put on "hold" until the place gets cleaned up and gets back into the swing of things.... she got bored of sitting at home, saw that the Banana was hiring people, so went and got a job so she would not have to sit at home. My Stepfather is a Civil Engineer in New Orleans, so his job security is at a new all time high, and honestly, my mother could afford to stay at home. Which is why she doesnt mind mouting off to the management about how she IS NOT GOING TO DO THAT! Actually, she does not even buy any clothing at the store, unless it is on SERIOUS markdown, and then she uses her employee discount. I mean, she bought me a shirt originally priced for 85 dollars for 6 BUCKS. I really love my mom!)

Treeluva tell you mom I said "you go!" I've been in jobs like that and sadly not been in the position to tell them just what I thought, boy would I have loved to though!
I waitressed for years and the push of management for suggesting MORE MORE MORE was horrible. I always did well at my job but there was a fine line and often what management wanted could have easily pushed customers away.
