    Default Web Toll Coming?

If this comes to pass it may not be frugal to run websites anymore, all the blogs and info sites. Cant say I care for it at all.

Now a freeway, the Internet might soon become a turnpike. How new laws could transform cyberspace—and the way you surf it -snip-

That is just silly. I somewhat understand the point being made, but if you have more than dialup, you are already paying for the service and maintanence. Even with dial up, you are paying for the service. I think this is dog poop.

I agree. But it is interesting--I can't imagine how this would be managed, wouldn't there be hundreds of thousands IP addresses that would have to be to monitored to collect fees?

We are already paying for access to the world wide web or the information highway. If the concern are the extras, downloading movies, news streams, etc. I would think that charging for these services would be up to the people who are responsible for offering the streams and movies, etc. But much of the costs for those who offer these free things to us, can be labled advertising expenses for the company so they are already making money and getting their brand name noticed. So I am not really understanding why we would need to pay a second fee when we are already paying for access to the internet.

    Just my 2 Cents.

So, basically, the big companies will have the opportunity to get bigger, and the small companies will have the opportunity to go out of business. Lovely.
