I can get alot of the things that she has listed for a dollar or less. We have a Family Dollar, Dollar General, Save A Lot, & these stores carry name brand products not just generic. I don't buy all of these products, but if I need something it is nice to know I can get it for a buck or less.
We can actually get 8 oz of cheese for 1.00 at Krogers (Kroger brand).
I think I will make a list of things that I buy on a regular basis for a buck or less, to remind me not to pay more!! For others who can't get these things for these prices, maybe you can make a list of things that you can buy cheap in your area that you use.
I thought it was very interesting.2010 Challanges:

Oops! I can only get the Kroger cheese when they are having a sale. Also if I'm not sure about a product I just buy 1 if we don't like it I don't buy it again. Saves money and sometimes you find something you like.

Kimberly - you summed up exactly what I was thinking most of the way when I read the article. Here are the few things that I do buy that I can't get for less than $1 (And yes, there are several items I don't buy - like tater tots - so I don't have a clue what they cost). I'm also not counting the items I buy in bulk.
Antacids - even buying generics, I can't get these down to $1
Butter - Best price I can find is $1.99/lb, usually it is $4.99/lb
Cheese - varies - usually I can get it down to $4.00/lb
Fabric softener liquid- On sale with coupons, I can get it down to $2.25/bottle
Hamburger (per pound) - Best I can do is $1.99, although it is 90% lean
Picture frames - I don't buy that many, but I've never seen them for $1
Mind you, there are also items on the list that I could get for $1 or less, but choose not to. I don't buy my eye liner out of the $.99 section of the drug store. I don't buy cheap hairbrushes or combs. I won't buy cheap batteries, I prefer rechargables.
I also like lilk's idea of making a list of things that we personally won't pay more than $1 for - I'd be interested in hearing/reading other people's lists. I also have a running list of things I will NOT pay money for - like calendars (get these free in the mail every year from my bank, insurance agency, etc), envelopes and paper (get these free from work).Loving wife to DH (8/31/03) and Mommy to Owen Alexander (9/20/06)

I don't buy most of that stuff, and what I do buy I buy bulk. Also, the things you can get for less than $1 is actually more expensive per serving than if bought bulk. So I agree with Kimberlina on this one!

Going through her list I can get alot of the things on it for under $1 around here mainly at Aldi but some things at Wal-Mart or the Dollar store. I don't use some of these things (like toothpaste and the cooking oil) but I have seen these things for under $1 here (eastern NC).
