    Default Great CD rates available

This week I saw an ad for PNC Bank having 5.5% APY on a 9 month CD (min dep $1,000) Meaning for every $1,000 you tie up for 9 mos you can make over $50 interest.
We went there yesterday for details and found out I would also have to open a $200 checking account to do this--ok, no big deal. I had called my bank (Sovereign) during the week and they said they could not even come close, even when I told them we could do a significant amount (they were offering 3.8%) Dh went to our bank after PNC and explained the situation and we scored 5.8%!!!! Yeah! By tying up 80% of our liquid savings for one year, we kept enough liquid to cover 6 mos expenses just in case, we will make over $5,000 in interest. This will be such a help as it will come due soon after the baby starts daycare.
With these interest rates it is so worth looking into if you are at all able. ----Kellie
