Default The good news and the bad news(gas prices)....

The good news is that my neighbor gave my son a pair of soccer cleats that her son outgrew. Perfect timing considering my son starts soccer in early September and I was going to have to cross my fingers that they had them at Goodwill.

The bad news is that I gassed up the van today and it cost me close to $55.00. Yikes. Guess I'll be walking everywhere. I then proceeded to got to the grocery store and almost had a heart attack when I saw the price of Lactaid. My youngest son is no longer lactose intolerant (I'm guessing that by the way he eats ice cream), but has grown accustomed to the taste. At $4.00/gallon, I decided that he can grow accustomed to the taste of regular milk.

My goal is to not fill up the tank for the rest of the month. I've already decided that I will not buy one thing brand new this year (only used). I don't think my sons need new school clothes and if they do, we'll just have to see what's at Goodwill or other places. And there's always the neighbor's hand-me-downs!! It pays to have the youngest kids on the block.

That's nice of your neighbor to give your son the cleats. Atleast that is one less concern. Yes, gas is way, way up everywhere. It stinks too, but, like you said, walk a lot.
    Best wishes!

What a great break in getting those cleats for free. Those things are not cheap and the chance of finding them used in the right size is not great. Gas prices stink here too....

    Great on the cleats!

Which reminds me, I have about 5 or 6 pr of soccer cleats cluttering the closet that I need to get rid of...

Gas. Don't even get me started. $55 doesn't even get my van a half a tank anymore. Gas here is $3.15/gallon for the cheap stuff!!

Gas is really getting to me. I have a 25 mile commute everyday to work (well 5 days a week). I'm in a work contract until April of next year. At that time I'm moving to another state, and my goal is to live no further than 2-5 miles from work. I rent my home, and I don't want to start another lease now since we're planning on moving. The price of gas is really hitting my wallet right now!

These gas prices......how high can they go? I live in the Pacific Northwest and they shut down the Alaskan oil pipeline, so now they are projecting our prices to go to over $4.00 a gallon by the end of September.....I hope not because we will be on a road trip during September. I guess we'll see......

Very cool about the soccer cleats! I have been walking or not going anywhere lately since it costs me $85 average to fill our car!

I have a ds that drinks Lactaid too and you are right about the price although I pay $3.97 for 1/2 gallon! It amazes me. He just recently started trying to eat ice cream, yogurt and cheese......so far so good! It is just the cows milk that upsets his tummy!

Cricket are you me? LOL! The only new article of clothes or shoes I have gotten in 3 years was a dress I wore to a wedding and I got it free from Jc Pennys and the shoes were 50% off!

I live at Goodwill and I wear nice designer clothes that I get at Goodwill when They have the $1.49 hanging garment sales.

Good deal on the soccer cleats!

That is great about the shoes -- I love it when things like that fall into my lap in perfect timing.

Gas up here is already well over $4 a gallon, and here in Canada, they make it tricky, cause they price it by the litre (Approx 4 litres to a gallon). So you cross the border and see all these signs for $1.06. Sigh......it's not going to get any better. I have managed for two weeks now on the same $20 worth but I am going to have to fill up soon. My goal is to see how long I can go on the same tank of gas (time, not distance, lol).

The good news is after the 15th I will have money for another round of acupuncture treatments. The bad news is the acupuncturist wants me to go every other day for 3 months, at $60/visit! We simply can't afford that. Will have to think of some other way...
