Need help finding good price on hotel room
Next Saturday , my oldest daughter is on a cheerleading squad that is competing in Indianapolis at the state fair. We have been given 4 FREE tickets to the Colts football game for Sunday. We live about an hour and a half away. So I was thinking instead of driving home, they wont get done until late Sat. nite, maybe finding a decent hotel room, since the tix are FREE!!!!!! I have never tried to get deals online, or really trying to get coupons, or whatever. Any advice on what to do? We really like Hampton Inns, for the cleanliness, and the good breakfast. Thanks for any help!!

We normally scout out the area first online and then look and see what hotels are nearby first. Then we check out the online deals, through the hotel website and then enter any discounts we've been able to find. We always use partners with Southwest Airlines b/c we get double miles that way on the $'s we spend at the hotel. I'll ask Gripey how he does the "scouting out" (like what search he uses to find the hotels in the area) and post a followup for you.

This may be more than you're wanting to spend, but when we were in Indianapolis last year, we stayed at The Nestle Inn. It's a fabulous bed-and-breakfast in downtown Indy. The owners are so sweet, the accomodations are fabulous, and the breakfasts are delicious and filling. They've raised the prices a tad from last year, but it was actually the cheapest place we found downtown. (We were there for Star Wars Celebration III, which is a HUGE Star Wars convention, and hotel rooms for that week were $150+!)
Here's the link: http://www.nestleindy.com/ We stayed in the room with yellow walls and the red-and-white quilt on the wall. It was great!

I also should have mentioned in my first post that I like to compare prices on Expedia, Hotels.com, and other travel places. Also, when I find a decent-looking hotel at a good price, I then go to the hotel's website to see if they're offering a better deal.
But really, if you're going to Indy, I highly recommend the Nestle Inn. DH and I just LOVED it!

Try www.sidestep.com. It checks all the major discounters for you, so you don't have to go to all of them individually.
