Default A different kind of shopping journal.

I know lots of folks do price books, but I've been thinking about doing something a little different but still along the same lines.

My problem with stocking up on items is I don't know how much of it to buy to last until the next time it's on sale. For example, I know peanut butter goes on sale every 12 weeks or so, but how much peanut butter do I need to buy to last 12 weeks? So, here's my idea. I'm going to start a notebook with 26 pages. One for each letter of the alphabet. When I go shopping, I'll write down how much of each item I bought. Then, next time it's on sale, I can look and see how much I bought last time and how much I still have left.

What do you think? Do I need to tweak it a bit? Am I overlooking something that could make it better? Enquiring minds want to know!

I would probably write down when I opened a new whatever (let's say peanut butter). I'd probably just mark it on the lid, then see how long it takes to eat it all. When it's on sale again in 12 weeks, you'll know it's takes 3 weeks (or however long) to eat a jar, so I need to buy 4 jars.

    But that's just me.

I started clipping out the pictures and prices of favorite items in the flyers and gluing them into a scrapbook to keep track of when things go on sale.

I was wondering about the same things. Thanks for the tips on how to track the sales.
