Married now, Savings already spent!!
Well, DF has now graduated to DH!!! We got married yesterday in a very simple, but great ceremony in ottawa with 2 of our friends as witnesses! It was honestly one of the funnest trips I've been on!! We of course, as we half expected, tapped into our savings and they are now drained...there goes $600
Well, we still have 0.31 left...but we're in our overdraft in other accounts...eek
It was completely worth it though, but now we must start over, the annoying part. I know that Dave Ramsey suggests that we save $1000 first, but we have credit cards that desperatly need to be paid off, I mean, minimum payment has been paid for the last 6 months...ick. Do you think we should still save first, or pay off cards first???
If I seem less than scared by this, finances are less frightening right now then telling the family you just eloped...lol
Thanks for reading!!!Debts

Congrats, Rachel!!
If I were you, I would fix the overdrafts as soon as possible. Then I would slowly work on the EF as you're paying off your CC. Even $5 or $10 a week in your EF is better then nothing.~Amanda~

Congratulations!

Like Amanda said, I'd fix the overdrafts first, then worry about saving a little at a time for your EF.

Congratulations on your marriage.
I follow the Dave Ramsey Plan and there is Pre-Step 1 and that is getting current on all your bills. After that the plan calls for saving the bef so you won't have to use credit cards everytime something comes up.
Even though you've had a setback, you'll be back on track in no time!

CONGRATS!!!!!!!!!! I eloped also and was so happy, I'm NOT a party person! Enjoy the euphoria, lol, even though we lived together for 2 years there WAS that wonderful brand new feeling to getting married!
I'd take care of the overdraft first and foremost, then go at those CC's but as said put at least a little bit towards an ef, even $5-10 a week makes a difference!

I agree. Get caught up first. Right now, we can only do $25 to our EF each month, but it's something.

Thanks everyone!! There's definatly a euphoria right now, I guess that's why I'm not really all that concerned about money, I'm just happy!!! So this I what I think I will do, definetley take care of the overdrafts first. DH (
) gets paid tomorrow so that will take care of that, but we need to take rent out of it as well, so nothing will be coming out of paychecks for credit cards until next month! We can afford to put $50 a week into EF, plus whatever change is left over at the end of the week. The rest will be put on credit cards!
Hopefully that will work out, except I do need to pay $100 for a bridesmaid dress in the middle of september. Other than that, I only need to buy books which will come out of my student loan, which I recieve in september as well.
This is just so awesome!! I'm so freakishly happy right now!!!Debts

Congratulations. My honey and I eloped last summer. Called off the big wedding on Wednesday and got married barefoot in the rain on Sunday. Then my Dad took everyone out to our favourite Vietnamese/Thai place. It was SO perfect
