Good reasons to marry a cheap man
This was taken from the book, "The Cheapskate's Handbook" by Mifflin Lowe. (Who names their kid Mifflin?)
Good Reasons to marry a cheap man:
1. Cheap men don't go to strip shows or porno palaces. Or any other place that has a cover charge.
2. Cheap men don't go to bars at $5.00 a drink.
3. Cheap men don't smoke. How high is a pack of smokes now?
4. Cheap men don't gamble. if they lose more than $1.50 they head home in tears. (someone tell my step-father that)
5. Cheap men are courageous. It takes guts to ask someone to split the gas after a ride around the block.
6. Cheap men are handy around the house. It's inconceivable that a cheap man would pay to have anyone do anything he could do himself.
7. Cheap men are opposed to military build-ups and war. And everything else hat costs $350 billion a year.

I have to laugh because my husband isn't cheap but he sure is resourceful! I don't know how many times he's come home with truck loads of JUNK and put together usable stuff out of it, then whatever is left goes to the scrap yard and I get the check
I used to get mad at him at times but he'd always tell me at least he's not out in a bar somewhere

My DH has a semi-expensive hobby. He's a Star Wars collector, and a member of the 501st Legion, which is a Star Wars costume group. I say semi-expensive because while action figures cost little, his costume costs a ton! He's spent over $2000 on it already, and he's still making modifications here and there. Anyway, when I laugh about his Star Wars hobby, he says the same thing Frugalfarmwife's hubby says. At least he comes home at night and isn't one of those guys hanging out in a bar! LOL.
He's been very resourceful about his funds for his costuming. He's made and sold several costume pieces for others, and that has brought in a ton! He paid for his entire Stormtrooper costume from selling stuff on Ebay or making costume pieces for other people. Nothing came out of our budget.
Oh, and numbers 1-4 on that list... well, those are just the marks of a good man, IMO, not a cheap man!

My DH is pretty good! Does whatever I tell him, just kidding, but he's really on board with saving money. The only thing is his computer. He's addicted to building a faster computer, and you know how fast things change. He recently bought a whole new computer that he built himself, with savings and now he's already complaining that its too slow and he needs more (insert part here)...ugh...but at least he's doing what i say and waiting until christmas bonus time to buy it...

My BF is the same way as "rachelMcK's DH" but except that he's crazy about CARS. He's an auto technician. He's not into the BAR scene either. And of-course, he always tries to fix everything himself, if he get lost, he'll look up instructions/info. online and try to fix it himself again....This can get irritating at times, but it saves us money $$$
He spends a lot of money on cars though, but we made money on all of those cars that he bought. He usually buy cars that have some problems with them, then he fix it and sell it for a lot more. We made a lot of money this way. Example: (We bought a car for $400, put about $500 to $600 into it and of-course his time for fixing it --- about 3 to 4 saturdays)
We sold the car to my brother for $2,000, and a few months later, he got into a car accident and his insurance company pay him $6,000 for the car !

I'm proud to say my husband has most of those good qualities. He's not the most frugal, but he's doing pretty good getting onto the bandwagon. His hobby is playing a football videogame over the internet. He buys the new version each year (it comes out right around his birthday). It only costs for the game itself, because he just connects to the internet we already have. He plays on an old TV we have in the office that is just for that purpose.

My dh is somewhat frugal, he has wanted a laptop for some time, even though we both have computers. Well he finally found one that was on sale and I looked online and it had a $60 rebate, so he got it for $468. I get to keep the rebate check. But he didn't get the computer unless I got my freezer. lol I said the freezer could save us money on food and have more room to put my zucchini bread when I make them. My freezer was on sale also. When we had to replace the trim in our living room, we went to look and it was so exspensive to buy. He said we had some wood downstairs that he could make into trim and he did, I stained it and it looks great. The old trim from upstairs he will use for the basement when we redo it.
Someone hit his car when he was at work, Smashed the door all the way in and busted the trim. The insurance agent gave him the check and said he could do what he wanted. He put the money in the bank and is buying the door from a salvage yard. The check was for $1373.01, his door was $139. He decided to put it in the bank and add to it to purchase another car next year. Then he said he would sale his to save. So I do like that aspect. He has times though when he will go and spend without comparing. I think he has learned first to search to see if there are any rebates, clearanced items, etc. But I am proud of him.Maggi
