    Default Yard sales!!!

I was finally able to go to a few yard sales!! Working nights has it's advantages, I have time in the AM on the weekends to check out some of the yard sales I've been missing out on all summer.

    Yesterday I got:
Buzz Lightyear Inflatable Jet Pack - DS has the costume & the shoes, now he has the inflatable jet pack to go with. For $1! I don't think I paid full price for any of it. The suit I got on the clearance rack after Halloween one year, the boots we got at a yard sale last year, and this year the backpack

I also got 2 Patricia Cornwell novels that I didn't have and a Brad Meltzer novel for 50c each.

Today we did pretty good too! We got:
Step & Stool Chair for $3! this will be perfect for my pantry with the cupboards that go to the top of the 9ft ceiling.

5 gallon 1.5HP Shop Vac for $5! I really could have used this last week when I defrosted the chest freezer...now I have it for next time

and 1994 Hess Ladder Truck DS#2 "collects" them. He doesn't care that they are collectible, he just wants every one that he sees because his Papa collects them (for real).

Sounds like everyone did great today. I hit the motherlode at one estate sale (the only sale I went to, due to having company coming in this morning).

    For $26 I got:

About 35 nice washrags (asst. colors)
    15 nice dishrags (new)
    1 Marcrest bowl
1 China bowl (both bowls for resale on ebay)
Hamilton Beach Food Processor (broke mine yesterday)
Small slot machine for Gripey (very cute, possibly collectable)
Hardback book "I'm a Soldier Too" Jessica Lynch story
3 new special soap pumps full for my mom (this stuff costs $7.50 new)
    5 refill soaps
A box full of embroidery thread and a hands free magnifier and 3 sets of iron on stamps plus 2 hoops
A nice hanging jewelry travel bag
4 3/4's full bottles of shampoos and conditioners
A set of nice enamel bowls with fitted tupperware type lids

Seems like I'm forgetting something big. Oh well I had lots of fun and am thrilled with my goodies.

    *eta*
Ok, I just thought of what I left off my list of items.
I got 3 very nice crocheted doillies
A set of silverware to replace a set that is tarnishing almost like silver but it's not
A heating pad in box (not new, but almost)

    *eta again*
I remembered a couple more things that I hadn't added earlier....
I got 2 beer steins for my collection for like.25 each.

~48 yr. old sahw, livin' it up in our empty nest, smack dab in the middle of everywhere.~

*We're debt freeeeeeeee! (including the house)*

Nice job all...I have sworn off yard-sales for awhile so I can finish de-cluttering the house. But I am always interested in hearing about a great deal!

I woke up this morning to go to some yard sales, but it was pouring rain so I went back to sleep for a while.

I got a whole new wardrobe!! One of the churches here gets all of the unsold items from a couple of nice consignment shops here and the church then has 2 or 3 big clothing sales a year. All clothing is only .25 apiece and on the 2nd day you can fill a bag for $1. I got myself some very nice new clothes for only .25 each (including some brand new and lots of name brands: Tommy Hilfiger, Gap, Nike, Christopher & Banks, etc.) I load on when they have these sales and if something doesn't end up fitting, it goes either on e-Bay or into my annual garage sale. (And I usually end up selling it for alot more than I paid!)

ETA: I also got DH a bunch (about 3-4 dozen) Family Handyman magazines for only $2. - these magazines new are almost $5. each!!! We both love reading these and finding projects to ponder....especially now when we are making our plans to sell our current home and build a smaller home!

My husband has a subscription to Family Handyman, and it is expensive. GREAT find for your DH!!

Today I went to one yard sale, but found some baby things, got a pair of jammies, a new 3-pack of socks, one long sleeved onesie and a pair of sweatpants for my sons for a total of 2.25.
