Thumbs up Just saved us $150

And all it took was a 10 minute phone call!
It was brought to my attention that other Time Warner Roadrunner users who had routers (like we do) did NOT have to pay $5/month to have additional computers online at the same time. When we bought our router 3 years ago, we called TW to make sure it was okay & not something like theft of services to hook up a router and use two computers on one acct. We were told it was okay, but there was a $5 per computer per month additional charge.

Well, come to find out, that is WRONG!
Time Warner just refunded $150 back to my acct for the $5/mo we've been paying for the last 2.5 years for services we did NOT need (and were told we did) and did NOT use.

Turns out whoever told us that when we first got our router was WRONG. They must have thought we had a "hub" rather than a router.

There are a lot of WRONG people at TW, as I found out today dry.gif
First woman tried to tell me that because my router wasn't wireless that was why I had to pay $5!? I told her that made no sense at all, esp since the service was called "1 Additional IP" and both computers come up with the same IP address!!!! So she switched me to tech support. THAT person knew what he was talking about. He explained to me that I was right (duh lol). That because we had a router (wireless or not) we should NOT have been paying $5 a month. The way you pay $5 a month is if you only have a hub. A hub is basically like a box you can plug multiple computers into, then you plug the hub into the modem. The $5 charge is for the internet provider to split the internet between the two computers. Well, a router does that for free.

He switched me to a SNOTTY local person, who once I explained that I was NOT Happy about having paid over $150 for the last three years, she switched me to a supervisor. She took off the charges from January 2004 on, when actually it was from August 2003 on. But I wasn't going to quibble. That's a whole months bill!!

That's great! It's very rare when they refund you money from that far back. Good going!

That was a great savings but since you get it all "back" feels more like a gift, eh? Good for you!
