Is there a Freecycle in your area? Do you use it?
I have just found a freecycle in my area, and it looks good. Ive posted a "want" and will post stuff to "give" after Ive cleaned out this weekend.
I was just wondering if any of you use/have used one, and if you have had good, or not so good experiences.
you can find it at freecycle dot org
Cheers

I run the local freecycle in my city. Ours is a smaller group because our city is small. Too many pet listings in our group.
There are a lot of giving people though.

I love our freecycle! I use it alot to clear out houses that we are working on. In fact have several folks coming today to pick up stuff that DH collected yesterday. Have also posted looking for stuff and have had lots of success.
We actually have 3 in our area
Manatee County
Sarasota County and our town of Bradenton. All over lap and cross post.

The one in my area is SO active.... we've had 388 messages in the last seven days! I wish it would be broken down into smaller areas, but, since I don't want to take on that responsibility, I shouldn't complain, should I?
I'm not really active in the group anyway.... once I got a lamp, but that's it. I haven't posted anything to give away yet. I have paranoia issues with being a cop's wife, having some threats made against him, and then inviting strangers to pick stuff up at our home. I need to work something out to meet people in public places I guess, but for now, I just haul things down the road to Goodwill.
And Sara... our local group made a rule against animal posts-- we had a lot of those for a while, too.

We have a local one and it is pretty active but I have never gotten anything from it. I just have not seen anything I was looking for. I need to clean out my shed and post some items on it to get rid of them. I love the freecycle idea, it is great.

We have one that covers a pretty large area. It's just too overwhelmingly active for me to keep up with.

There is, and I've gotten rid of 2 or 3 small things, and taken in a few things too. I need to do it again.

We have two in our area, I have posted and given away stuff but haven't actually gone and gotten from someone yet. My middle son and his gf have used it to get baby clothes and other stuff they were looking for.

I love Freecycle and use it often both for giving and for things I am looking for. I have completely furnished my daycare with castoffs from people with young kids. This weekend I listed 10 things I wanted to get rid of and found good homes for 8 of the items.

I use mine extensively, it has helped me to clear out a lot of things, I even hooked up with an old friend via freecycle. I've also gotten some things, including our high chair, in almost brand new condition from them. There are some kooks out there and people who will try to take advantage, so I am strict with some rules I have.

I have gotten a desk and a paper shredder from there. We have several in our area. I'm going to post some stuff pretty soon.

I also use freecycle! I give & receive! I love it!! It keeps so many items out of the landfills and it helps so many in the process.... (our local freecycle covers a large county, so some items aren't worth traveling for - I won't go more than 15/20 mins away)
