    Default Stockpiling-Sept.14th-20th.

I did post this before and can't believe it isn't here. Either I posted it in the wrong place or hit the wrong button - who knows. Anyway, couldn't find any deals in our town last week so just bought the bare necessities but am having better luck this week. Bought a 50 pound bag of freshly dug potatoes from a farmer and am trying to decide if that will see me through the winter or if I should buy another 20 pound bage for 4.50. Picked a bushel of apples for $17.00 so that will do for baking and eating and hoping to make some applesauce to add to the pantry. I figure we can eat corn once a week for 10 months before the fresh corn arrives again either as a vegetable, in soups, stews, shepherds pie etc., so am planning on freezing 45 packages of it and have done 24 so far - and the corn is free. One of our grocery stores is having dollar days this week so will have to study the brochure to see if there is anything there that I need to stock up on.

I have been trying to get ahead of the game as well this past week I picked up 10 can of cream of mushroom soup onsale and 10 cans of chicken noodle soup to use once in awhile....I usually make my own but thought it would be nice to have these in the pantry I also yesterday picked up 10lbs of turnip and a 5 lb bag of carrots which I will cut/blanch and freeze today.

A few weeks or so ago I bought 72 cobs of sweet corn , blanched and put in the freezer......I bought a food saver about 3 months ago so I have been having so much fun! I also a couple of months ago bought broccoli onsale and was able to blanch and freeze 15 bags of that. with my food saver the corn and brocolli will be good in the freezer for 2 to 3 years opposed to around 8 month with regular freezer bags.

I have to look over this weeks flyers to see what I can pick up onsale to expand my stock pile

Well I haven't gone shopping yet will do that this friday. But Mejiers has a lot of buy 1 get 1 or buy 1 get 2 (which I love) and with my coupons it is even better so will be stocking up then.

Krogers has 10/$10 sales so will get a few things there also. Target has a few things I want to get to.

I think after this week (I will be spending more then what is left in my budget) I do not plan to shop (except for need items and really really good deals have to be almost free to get them) for a few weeks and put that money toward things we want to do to the house and also toward paying off my dryer.

So this week I will most likely go $100 over my $240 budget but I don't plan to buy anything for a few weeks but milk, bread, and things like that.

I think we can do it we have plenty of food now but I want to get these deals since I have such good coupons for them.

I picked up 10 cans of chili and 10 bottles of ketchup today on sale. Thus, I have started my official stockpiling once again.

I got a 1 liter bottle of ginger ale to have on hand if/when we get sick. I'm not sure if that counts as stockpiling or not. ??

3 boxes of my favorite popcorn that were on sale for nearly 1/2 the normal price.

I have a hugh hugh list this week to add to my stockpile. I don't plan to shop for anything major (except if canned fruit, veggies and pepsi go on sale) except milk, oj and normal things like that.

I also have tons of coupons for air freshners that are on sale this week so can't wait to get them and then some other things. I will be happy not to have to do any heavy shopping next month!! I can do it.
