Default Yikes!! Went over my food budget

I had a $100 budget for September. After adding up my receipts, I went over around $27. I had run into some B1G1 offers at the grocery on things that I always buy, so I did a bit of stockpiling. I suppose even though I went over, I still did really good. I'm sure it will all even out over the coming months.

I went over but dh and I decided next month we are only getting the need items milk,oj, eggs, cat liter (thou I could stock pile that and I still might for this month) but we need to use some of this stockpile we have no room in the cabinets, pantry, freezer for anything else. Thou on the brightside we are looking at getting another freezer and put in the basement.

But I admit I did go over but I want to do $20 a week next month and use te other money I would have spent at the grocery for paying off some bills and my Homedepot credit card (dryer) and work a little on christmas shopping and some remodeling so I don't feel guilty about spending more this month at all.

I agree that it will even out over the coming months, if you got some good deals now, on stuff you'll use soon.

The way I keep my grocery spending in check, is to use the envelope system. My grocery money goes in the envelope on payday-- and when the money is gone. . I'm done buying groceries until the next payday.

I think you did really well. I've got to figure it out, but I know I went over again this month! I'm terrible. I feel so bad each month when I go over budget and then I do it again. It's not because I don't allow enough in my budget, I just get impulse items and things I shouldn't.

You did good. As long as you spend the money to buy the stuff you know you will use.

Don't feel bad, I went over too. About the same amount. I just got my pantry in and now I want to do some stockpiling of canned items and dry goods that I am low on. It feels so good to have a place to put the food now that doesn't interfere with the integrity of the product. I am so happy right now.

I do the same thing as Autumn -- plan and plan and then do the impulse thing. I too have a HUGE stockpile. My grocery budget includes pet food, litter, and home products as well (health and beauty aids, cleaning supplies, etc.) Each month I have a reason, so I guess the reason ceases to matter after a while. It just leaves the fact that yet again, I am over.

I went over my budget this month by $13.00. That's not too bad. I'll try again in October.

I also went over, But my DH and I are big on stockpiling. We never know when he is going to work and when he will be off. So if we have all the bills paid and have a little extra cash, we stockpile. Last month he was working so we went WAY over my $275 budget. We'll probably go over again this month - because he is working and the holidays and kids coming home are speeding up on us!
