Do you have an allowance for you and Husband?
We just started this. I get $50 and hubby gets $50 every friday. I realized that most of the time I was spending my cash on stock up items and deals. Each of us gets a coffee can with our name on it....if you have anything left on friday you can save it. I will no longer us my cash for stock ups, if I don't buy all week then I get to put $50 in my can. We came to an agreement that his non-alcohlic beer and cigerettes would come from his allowance in hopes that this will incourage him to cut down. My allowance will include wine (if I want it) and hair color. I treated us to Carl's Jr. the other night...i just didn't feel like cooking and it was my choice.
Do any of you have a similiar system?? we are still working on the rules.

I think it's a good idea. We haven't done it yet but probably will in the near future. For us, it would probably be more like $20-25.00 per week.

Well your idea is wonderful but we can't afford to give each other an allowance so we just live paycheck to paycheck, if something is needed we buy it, but if there's no moola then I/he/we lose out.

We each get an allowance. I get $20/week since I work, and he gets $10 a week.
Mine gets spent on magazines, occasional soda, gifts for co-workers, etc.
He spends his on lunches out with his mom, new video games, or DVD's

It's all just a part of the budget-- and is a big help in keeping us on track.

No allowance here either. Neither of us really never spends any money on ourselves. All of our money goes to bills and things for the kids. We feel too guilty if we spend $$$ on us.

Spending money is the only way we've been able to stick with our budget. It was $50 every other week for a year, we recently upped it to $75 each. We don't have an entertainment fund or eating out fund, if we want to do those things it comes out of our own spending money.
It's the grease that keeps the budget rolling.
Bring on them baby steps...
Step 1: done
Step 2: waiting on amount, hubby had followup colonoscopy, I had visit to ER with followup procedure
Step 3: to follow, won't know aim until things settle
Step 4: to follow, currently at 6%
Step 5: grown child
Step 6: huge mortgage ANNIHILATED!!
Step 7: ahhhh....

Well more then likely I will spend very little of mine and this will be added to the debit and emergency fund, but for my husband this should work a little better. He will have a choice to save up for something fun, before he would simply stop for smokes at 7-eleven and pick up a diet coke and maybe a bag of chips or something and use the debit card. He came home last night ..proud of himself for not buying a pack of smokes yesterday..he is trying to stretch that money out a lot better...because he eventually will see a reward.

Yup my husband and I do the same thing, 100 every 2 weeks. We both work. This is supposed to cover all our extras. He likes to eat out at work weekly, I don't but I love to scrapbook and splurge on the occasional Starbucks Coffee. We also try to make our clothing purchases with this money too. And I too found I was spending my money to buy stock up things for the house or the kids and so I'm trying to keep it just for me, to help reduce the urge to splurge with the rest of the budget money and this seems to curb the shopping beast as well! I savor the money and usually have the bank give me small bills when I"m filling my envelope system, it makes it seem like more and easier to just grab a 5 v.s. a 20 and piddle it away.

No allowance here. If we have the money extra, we will buy stuff. If there is nothing there, we don't. Most of the time we don't

My dh gets $100 for every 2 weeks but this includes gas, sunday paper (he loves me what can I say), and if he needs something for this or that. He usually has money left over I know right now he has $80 I am not sure what he is saving for but hey that is his. He also takes his beer money out of that.
I get usually $25-$50 depends on if I go see my mom and need gas in the car but lately I haven't had any extra money because I haven't gone anywhere. A week or 2 ago I bought 4 little fall decorations for myself that was nice.
But I told dh I want to try to keep mine low but if I need gas I will have to have a little extra but right now my car is not running so now biggie it has gas in it and just sitting there.
But dh gets the $100 because he does work and if I ask him for something he will give me that money so it is all good.

~I dole out $25 a month each to DH and I. DH flies through his but I rarely spend mine. I usually end up giving mine to him so he can buy a DVD or video game. ~

Sort of, but not really. I make sure he has cash whenever he gets paid. It's usually anywhere from $20-40 every 2 weeks. But really, there's no set amount. If we want something, and we have the money for it, we get it. Neither of us typically spends large amounts; it's usually just small stuff.

We sort-of have a spending budget.
I give BF $20 weekly for snacks & luch at work. (He takes lunch from home a couple times a week, but he also likes to eat-out with co-workers)
As for me, I don't have a spending budget.
If I/We need something, and there's extra $$$ then we buy it.
If there's no extra, then we wait until we have extra $$ to buy.
We do have a budget for everything else though.

I sort of have an allowance. I budget x dollars per week for groceries and if I come in under that amount then what is left over is my allowance. I usually come in under, because I want that money LOL which is anywhere between $10-40/week. More often than not my gas/prescriptions/etc. come out of that allowance too. So not too bad.
I don't know what DH does so I couldn't tell you. We have his 'n hers money right now for a few different reasons.“When you get to the end of all the light you know
and it's time to step into the darkness of the unknown,
faith is knowing that one of two things will happen:
you will be given something solid to stand on,
or you will be taught how to fly.” - Edward Teller
“Our Earth is degenerate in these later days;
there are signs that the world is speedily
coming to an end;
bribery and corruption are common; children no
longer obey their parents;
every man wants to write a book and the
end of the world is evidently approaching.”
— From a translation of an inscription on
an Assyrian clay tablet, circa 2800 B.C.E.
God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change,
courage to change the things I can,
and the wisdom to know the difference.
