Crockpots, which do you use?
There are a lot of crock pots on sale now, but most of them are the dial ones. The options are Low, HIgh, and auto.. Are the ones you can program better, or do most of you use the kind with the basic turn dial on high or low? Thanks, I just don't want to waste my money buying a cheap one if they don't work well.

I have 2 that have low, high and warm only options. They work just fine for me. If I am leaving the house, I just put it on low and leave it on all day. If I am home and the item can cook faster, I use the high option. But I will admit, I am hard, hard, hard on appliances so I would never pay alot for a crockpot!

I have one that has low, high, and warm. I love it and use it all the time. I don't think I would ever pay a lot for one either.

Low, Warm & High dials for us, too. I always am afraid the more gadgets something has, the more chances it's going to break. My simple, gadget-free crockpot works fine for us.

Bought a low, med and high dial crockpot from Goodwill for $5. Very good investment. Throw food in before leaving for work, turn it on low, walk in the door at night and the smell of homecooking greets me!
The real bonus--if DH gets home first, the smell of food motivates him to set the table for dinner!Robin

I have 3 - they are 2, 14 and 25 years old (the 25 year old one is the one my mom had when I was growing up). All are High, Med, Low dial type. None have any special gadgets and all three work great!! The 14 year old one cooks just a tiny bit slower than the other two.

Both of my crockpots are just simple ones with the high and low options. They both work great. My only recommendation is that you make sure to buy one with a removable crock. I can't even imagine trying to clean one of the ones where the crock is permanently attached to the heating thing.

I have had mine for 12 years...was a wedding gift. It's just an old fashion kind with HI and LO...I love it and have thought about buying a new one..but why this one still works great.

I have a programmable crockpot; it was a wedding present. I didn't learn until after we got it that I guess these are known for cooking very hot. I've burned things in it I never burned in my old crock pot. I almost never use the "high" or "low" setting -- I cook almost everything on the "warm" setting the pot is supposed to switch to after it completes its timed cycle.
Amazon seems to have a lot of reviews of crockpots. I might read there before you buy anything.
Also, if you really want the programable feature (I did -- we both work long hours & stuff gets overcooked, even in a cp), Rival sells a timer attachment on their website that works with any crockpot. A lot cheaper than buying a new, fancy pot!

i have arival crockpot, with adail, off, low high and warm on it.
love it got it from yard sale, it works great. I think its kinda like washer machine, why would u need all those fancy dials and settings if u never hardly ever use them. And quite exspensive to fix.
