    Default Stockpiling - October l9th-October 25th

To-day will be my first shopping of the month - my husband is in town everyday so has just been picking up the bare necessities. Have bought so little this month that I bought two bottles of champagne for our Christmas morning brunch so guess the next thing will be frozen orange juice. Am going to make up my lists for food for over the holiday season and start picking away at it. We will be having l6 for brunch on Christmas day, 11 for dinner and 11 for dinner Christmas Eve. A lot of food but for sure am cutting down on the baking this year - am always left with a huge pile of it.

Have just started stockpiling and I've wrecked my grocery challenge for the month. So far I've got enough cereal to last awhile, last week I got 3 boxes for 1.49 a box and this week it was on sale for .99 a box so I got 4 more. Got 14 cans of soup, 4 spaghetti sauce (4 free pasta), using coupons to get 20 free cans of Rotel tomatoes, 5 bottles of ketchup for .25 each, toilet paper, 5 mexican rice packages, garlic bread, OreIda potatoes,oh, just tons of stuff on sale. Don't need any food for the next month, but it so hard to pass up the loss leaders and by using coupons I'm saving tons....but I'm still spending money. Although I did save $24 this week just from coupons alone...yeah me!!

The other day I bought some Green Giant canned vegetables, they were on sale for 50cents each, so I bought 8. That's the lowest they ever go around here.

Last night I bought 4 17 oz tubs of Jif peanut butter for $.50 each. I was down to my last one and this was perfect timing.

Our grocery store had a 10 for $10 sale.

6 boxes of pizza rolls for son's lunch
    10 boxes hot chocolate
    8 bags planter's trail mix
    4 hunts chocolate pudding snacks
    4-5lb bags flour
6 cans of pringles (they were .89 each-cheaper than the adveritized ones)
    1 box corn flakes
2 boxes of golden grahams ($2 each)
4 pints of blue bell ice cream
    3 -1/2 gal choc. milk
    2 bagged salad
    3 little debbies
I got a few other things too. We came out of the store with our cart over loaded for $111. It was $160 before shopper card. We were very happy. We never come out of that store with that much food for that price.

I wasn't around last week to post my great deals. But anyways, and I went grocery shopping -- here in Nova Scotia they recently lifted the ban on Sunday shopping and now most stores are open from about 10ish to 5 pm on Sundays, which is not bad for the consumers like who sleeps most of the morning and then works 10 hour shifts. But I don't really like the idea because it really disrupts the work lifestyle of the employees of these stores. Anyway -- and I picked up 48 cans of Heinz tomato soup. They were on 4/$1.00 and since Heinz is one of the very few brands I am loyal to (I find that almost every other canned tomato soup tastes like the tin can it came in) I figured I'd stock up! It's excellent to add to things, to have just plain, to bake chicken and such in, etc. Anyway, I bought 48 cans of that.

We also found tissue paper on sale for $0.42 a box, which is the best price I've seen around yet, so I bought six boxes to replenish my stock. I still have 10 packages of paper towel yet, so I didn't pick up any more of that. I rarely use paper towel, except to wipe up spills on the floor or something.

Wow Naderbug - what a good buy on Heinz tomato soup, it is also my favourite, won't buy any other brand. The sale price here is 3/1.00 and my stockpile is getting down so hope it comes on sale soon.
My stockpiling this week consisted of 6 large cans of tomatoes for .57¢ each.
