Bought my second 50 lb. bag of potatoes from a local farmer for $9.00 so now have a hundred pounds - think that should see us through till next year. Bought a 50 lb. bag last year and ran out just when the prices were the highest and it sure hurt to have to pay them. Should be better this year.

SuperStore Flyer Deals:
~ 15 lbs. of russet potatoes -- $2.97. Good deal, but even if
and I split the bag, we'd never be able to eat that many potatoes before they go bad.
~ 30 double rolls PC bathroom tissue -- $8.99. The amount of tissue is supposed to equal that of 50 regular rolls, so if you look at it that way, it's $0.18 a roll. Not too bad -- I refuse to pay more than $0.25 a roll for toilet paper, no matter what brand.
~ Scotsburn Ice Cream -- $6.00 for 2 2L tubs. Not too bad, but I've seen Chapmans on for the same price. AND I'm trying to cut back on junk food (again). So that's just an unnecessary evil.
~ Fresh Grade A Turkeys -- $1.44/lb. This is actually not bad, they're usually $1.97/lb. May buy one or two if I find the right size.
~ Clover Leaf Canned Flaked Tuna -- $0.69. This is about $0.10 cheaper than regular price. If you're interested in frugal living, minimalism and and

I stocked up a few weeks ago during a local store's one-day sale:
fresh (not frozen) boneless skinless chicken breasts ... $1.29/lb
canned veggies ... 5/ $1 (got 5 cases of 12, that should get us through holiday dinners since around here they don't care if they're canned)
mac and cheese ... 5/ $1 (got a case of 24, as I said, they're not picky)
canned tomatoes and chili mix beans ... 2/ $1 (not a bad price but not a great price but at least I have them on hand now)
pork butt roast (huge ones) ... $1.19/lb (again not a great price but I got 2 of them)
deli turkey breast and ham ... $1.99/lb (got 2 lbs of each and had the store pack it in 1 lb packages so I could freeze them and take them out when I needed them). The deli sliced turkey around here goes for $4/lb or more.
I blew $150 in no time at all!!!! But I think I did a good job considering I also did the monthly staples shopping.
I took a friend with me because the same one-day sale included 24-pk cases of canned Pepsi products for $3.99, limit 4 with $20 purchase. Since I don't buy soda, I just broke down my order and she got 8 cases.Kim

Hi She Who Cannot Cook:- I keep my potatoes in a fairly cool place and they keep right until Spring - just somewhere they won't freeze. If I do find that they are starting to sprout come Spring I just cook them up and mash them without any milk or butter and freeze them, I add the milk and butter when they are thawed and whip them up again.

Got a stash of Heinz ketchup today - enough to last awhile!!!
Store had the 36 oz. on sale @ $1.50 each. They also had a coupon in their flier for $5. off when you buy 5 of the listed items (not alot of choices on the list though!)
So I paid:
$7.50 for 5 bottles less $5. coupon = $2.50 total (only .50 each!!!)
I bought 10 bottles since we use so much of it, plus the exp. date is about a year from now.
I will probably be stocking up some of the Heinz bottled gravy this week to. Final cost on those is only .25 each agter the coupon.
(Good to have on hand to use with leftover meats)
