    Default Online grocery shopping

I live within 1/2 mile of a supermarket, but the time and effort involved in going shopping, sometimes with my kids, gets me really, really, really stressed out. For some reason, the supermarket is ALWAYS jam packed, no matter what time of day (or what day) I go. You can't get parked, the lines are lllloooonnnnnggg, the supermarket will always not have something that's on my list, the kids get ratty (if I have to go when my husband is at work and can't look after them) and I end up getting really worked up.

So three weeks ago I registered with a supermarket to order online and have my shopping delivered. In the past I never wanted to pay the £3.99 to have the shopping delivered, especially since I live so close to a supermarket. But I decided the £3.99 was worth my sanity, so I registered and went shopping.

I was still able to take advantage of all the same deals online that I would get if I were in the supermarket, and I spent less because I wasn't inclined to impulse buy. I made a list and I stuck to it. I've done this for three weeks now, and each time my shopping comes out around £40 including delivery. Sometimes that's just food. Other times it includes nappies and baby stuff. I don't know why I didn't do this before! I can grocery shop in my jammies!

Does anyone else do their grocery shopping online and have it delivered? It's fantastic!!

I've never done it because where we were you couldn't get the ad prices. Everything online was a set price and it was higher so it wasn't worth it. I kwym about the stress and there are days like that for sure, but I've gotten better about figuring out when those times might be. I try to schedule my shopping when I don't have my dd or dh around as both tend to up my bill. My ds doesn't like running a lot of errands so I do try to only hit one store per day if we're doing a big grocery shopping so as not to wear him out and stress him out. I'm not sure what you're currency is compared to ours but as an example, if I had to pay $3.99 per delivery, I would only get a delivery once a month. That would be $16 otherwise that I could use somewhere else. Good luck though. I'm glad you found something that works for you.

I wished we could! It's great that you still get the sale prices and are away from the impulse purchases they hope you buy. Sounds great and I wish the'd do something like that around here.

Nope. We can't get the deals here. So no on-line grocery shopping for me.

We don't have any stores around that offer it. I wouldn't use it anyways, its just me and DH that I shop for, no kids living with us so its not that big a deal for me. BUT, if I were in the OP's shoes, I probably would! Its all a matter of priorities, I think.

I am an oddball - I love to grocery shop. I would go everyday if I needed to. Sounds crazy, I know. I have offered to do the shopping for my mom, but she likes to shop as well.
It sounds like a great deal for you - $3.99 is not a bad price to pay for your sanity every once in a while. BTW - are you able to use coupons or do you just get the weekly store discounts? Just curious!! Thanks & good luck with it!!

I live in a rural area with no access to online grocery shopping. I work in the city though so I am near the grocery store on the days that I work. If I were in an area that it was readily available to me I would definately use it. I do not enjoy grocery shopping at all even though I do enjoy a finding a great bargain while I am there.

There is only one store in our town that offers it, but that works out perfect. We don't have a car so when I grocery shop I walk the 6 blocks to superstore and the mall and get all the sales, then bring it all home in our wagon(it's a metal one for grdening and it holds up to 500lbs). The store that offers online shopping is 10 blocks and across a major highway, I won't walk up there. I could catch the bus up there for $2 and then take a cab home for $8, but they deliver for $3, so whenever they have sales I use the online groceries and I love it. The guy that delivers it even brings it right into the house for me. I've tried to tip him but he says he's the owner of the store and doesn't want tips.
