    Default Pennies Saved Log

So I thought that to inspire my dh and show him how far saving a few pennies here and there go, I started a log of how many "pennies" I save us daily.
For example, not drying my laundry this week and getting cheaper stuff than we normally get. I just started on Sunday and I've already saved &8.74! If I save that much weekly, we'd be up $35 a month. The way I see it, that $35 can pay off our dsl bill. Hopefully he'll get on board and we can double that amount. He's usually the bigger spender anyways.

My dh thought it was silly to save our change. When I had him drive me to the bank to deposit what we had accumulated in a year, he was impressed to see we had accumulated over $500. You should see him throwing his change into the change box now! It might be more believable if you put the amount saved into a special account so he can physically see it.

maybe your dh is the bigger spender because he is home all day and maybe it is out of being just plain old board.

That's a great start. I'm a firm believer in nickel and diming it.

Good for you, Mellie. Hope you can get your DH on board with you. Every little bit helps. I save all my change. I put the money I saved on coupons away. I figure if I hadn't used the coupons that money would be gone, so why not save it. Keep up the good work!

I love it when someone else *sees* that pennypinching works! It's that old saying "take care of the dimes, the dollars will take care of themselves" (or pennies and pounds depending where you're from...)

It may be partially that and that partially that he has NO self control. When I first moved in with that man, I asked him to do a load of laundry and he used seriously 3/4ths of a huge tub of detergent on ONE LOAD!
Needless to say, I do the laundry now.

OMG! I totally know what you mean. It is kind of like the purposely mess things up like the laundry so that we won't ask them to do it again. Maybe you could look online for a daddys playgroup. Or something where it is a bunch of guys who stay at home get together and let the kids play and talk?

    Just a thought.

I've known so many poeple like that who will mess things up...and it does seem like i'ts just so that you don't ask them again..... I always think it's a desparate cry for help though... I teach 'em...."awwww looks like you need more practice...."
