How much do you pay (per lb) for turkey?
I'm hosting Thanksgiving at my house this year. I'm watching the sales circulars for prices on turkey, but really don't know if what I'm seeing is a good price or not.
How much do you pay per pound for a whole turkey?
What part of the world are you in (in case prices are regional)?
I'm seeing ads for 69 cents a pound. Should I snap one up or wait?

I live in Canada and we've celebrated our Thanksgiving already. The lowest turkey has been in the past couple years is 99¢ a lb. YOur price of 69¢ sounds wonderful, however I don't know the prices in the States.

You know, I have no idea! DH and I are both the babies of our families, so we've never hosted Thanksgiving! I do recall, though, that in the past some of the grocery stores have run deals where you get a free turkey if you spend $50 or more. I'd probably wait a bit to see if that happens again.

I saw .59 # in one of the grocery store flyers for this week. I was wonering myself what the best sale price is. A turkey breast is $5.98 #, that's what I'm considering since I would buy at least a 10 # turkey.
We re in western NY state.

I want to say that last year if I spent $20, I got a 'deal' that included the turkey for 69 cents and a 'deal' for free like a box of stuffing, a box of instant potatoes, a can of gravy, a can of cranberry jelly, rolls of some kind or something like this. It really wouldn't matter to me, I'll pay up to a $1 if I had to just for turkey on Thanksgiving.

What irks me the most is I can remember when turkeys got down to 19c/lb at Thanskgiving time. And it wasn't all that long ago...maybe 8-10 yrs ago.

I'm in NC and at Lowe's Foods this Thursday-Saturday you can get a whole turkey for 18cents per pound with an additional $25 purchase. I'm making my list today and going to pick up one tomorrow morning!!!

Also here in MA. Not much cheaper than 69 cents. Although there are some supermarkets that offer a free turkey if you spend so much during the month of November. Around here Shaws offered that last year. you had to spend 500.00 I think. I only shop shaws for the loss leaders and some of there 10/10, specials. So I never spend enough money.

About 69 cents herwe to. Central NY.
I laugh at the store that tells me I can get a free 15 lb turkey if i spend $450.00 between such and such a date.
I go to that store maybe twice a month and then only for their lost leaders.
Usually $25.00 at the most. This week will be $30.00 as they have pillsbury flour 10/$10.00 and Peter pan Peanut Butter same price.
I can buy a 15 lb turkey for $10.35 so usually buy 3 . They last all winter.
