The American Frugal Housewife
http://www.getrichslowly.org/blog/20...gal-housewife/
Some basic frugal ideas that our great-grandmothers used do use!
I've read the book. Most of the ideas we know, it is learning to apply them.

What an interesting blog. I really enjoyed it. It is amazing that 200 years has not changed the concept of frugalness. What worked then, works now. I have bookmarked that for further reading. Thanks for posting it for us.

I find this very interesting. The "book" is available online and I've been slowly reading. Haven't in a while though. Will have to look it up.

~I've bookmarked the e-book. Wow does she sound like me! Course, I'm only preachy about frugality to those that love me! And the kids playing with twine reference, we did stuff like that. In fact, I remember making all kinds of things out of twist-ties. Although I doubt we put them back...hmmmm. Frugality is a constant battle against waste. I say that as I waste time here. I could be knitting stockings!

That was very interesting! I now have something else to add to my gift list for DH. He's been asking what I want, and for the first time, I've been without a clue! And yes, I realize the hypocrisy of buying a book on frugality when there is a free one available. I don't want to read it on my computer. I prefer to read it in true book form.
